Things we can learn from our grandchildren:

The other day my stepdaughter and her daughter (who calls me granddad) were over at our house and my stepdaughter started to tell us something. She started off saying "I was at the store and these two black ladies.." he daughter (who is 25) immediately stopped her and said "Why does it matter if they were black?" "Well, they were black" said her mom. "But why does it matter?" she repeated. Her mom was dumbfounded.

My granddaughter finished the conversation with "God, I hope I live long enough to see the day when this shit doesn't matter anymore."

I love this kid. I have reached the age when I can listen and learn something from her every day I see her.

For instance, if we're watching a tv show with multiple people of various races, she'll say something like "the lady with the red shirt..." rather than "the Asian lady..." - stuff like that.
