Meet 5 Nebraska women who were trailblazers in jobs traditionally held by men
I especially like the story about Shelly Dubbs getting union trained in an apprenticeship program!

You have to earn it.
Thats true for workers of all stripes, but its perhaps especially true for a group of Nebraska women who were among the trailblazers in jobs traditionally held by men.
Its how Alice Dittman, who uttered that maxim, became the first female president of any bank in Lincoln. She would have liked to have attended Harvard Business School in 1952, but couldnt because the graduate program didnt admit women.
Its how Sue Clark proved herself to male police officers who thought a woman couldnt do a mans job. In 1984, Clark joined the Omaha Police Department. She was one of a small number of female officers in the 600-person department.
