(What she can't comprehend) US anti-gay marriage clerk Kim Davis appeals jail ruling

(Kim Davis is not in jail because of her religion, but rather that she is using her position of power and authority to force her religion onto others in a public office. Borrowed from a Tweet.)

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/northamerica/usa/11849318/US-anti-gay-marriage-clerk-Kim-Davis-appeals-jail-ruling.html

US District Judge David Bunning has said she can be released if she agrees to issue licences, or resigns from her $80,000-a-year elected position.
Mat Staver, her lawyer, lodged a three-page appeal against the judge's ruling.
He said: "While most Americans were enjoying the extended holiday weekend with family and friends, Kim Davis sits in isolation for the fourth day in jail. We are working through the holiday to secure Kim's freedom. She's not going to resign, she's not going to sacrifice her conscience."

5. Appeal of the contempt citation is based on a "weak, weak argument"

According to two lawyers, Danny Cevallos and Heather Hanson, who appeared on CNN's "Legal View with Ashleigh Banfield" today, the appeal is based on procedural, not substantive, grounds.

The appeal cites two reasons:

1. The judge had already made up his mind to cite her for contempt before the contempt hearing even took place, and cites the presence of staff in the courtroom ready to take Ms. Davis away when Ms. Davis and her lawyer entered the courtroom.

2. Ms. Davis was not notified that she could have been cited for contempt and taken away to jail.

Heather Hanson called the appeal "a weak, weak argument".

Her attorney is a disaster. She's a nitwit.

She had better get used to sitting in jail, because unless she changes her tune she's going
to be there for a long time.

Pick one and live with it.

The judge is acting and ruling in a perfectly lawful, legally justified and absolutely correct manner.

And, I think what he has done is quite fair and reasonable. She is so much in the wrong, but she is blinded by her religion.

She doesn't have to like the law, but she will OBEY it & SUBMIT to the will of the people.

wants is freedom to persecute in a public office, forcing her religion onto others. Now, she can do that in her religious cult, but not in a public office. She needs to resign, but noway does she want to give up her cushy $80K job for which IMO she is incredibly overpaid.
