that a GOP Congress can control. Unless trump manages to set himself up as emperor, the GOP Congress can block bills and override vetoes and executive orders. I believe the Dems would work with the GOP on overriding really egregious executive orders.
I think they see Trump as an easily controlled buffoon who can deliver the presidency - with the added attraction of Trump paying for a lot of campaigning himself. They can also refuse to accept his nominations.

They don't care whether Trump is ideologically pure. He's an alpha male, and his butt smells just terrific to them. So, they'll follow him anywhere.
