From an AP article by Adam Beam
The attorney for Kim Davis is now claiming the marriage licenses issued while she was in the clink are not valid. This is an interesting situation, not just because its a civil right battle, but because it shows how things operate in small town America. Davis has six deputy clerks and all but one agreed to issue marriage licenses. The one deputy clerk who insisted on supporting Davis is her son. Thats right. Her son works for her as a deputy.
The attorney says the legislature should change the law so marriage licenses are not issued under the authority of the county clerk, to protect the religious liberties of county clerks who believe some obscure passage from Leviticus overrides their obligations as public servants.

Davis might find out too late that defending her was not the top item on his list.

I tend to think that is correct, because Nathan Davis could be expected to stick up for his mommy, where he would probably not stick his neck out for someone who merely shared his last name.

(52,169 posts)you are thinking of the Davis who is the county clerk of a different Kentucky county who is, indeed, no relation of hers.
