Theory on why Joe Biden met with Elizabeth Warren?

In my opinion, it was to get her agreement that she would not come out in support of Bernie Sanders. The Party establishment does not want Bernie Sanders as the nominee of the Party. They believe it would be an automatic loss. Elizabeth Warren, with her support, could give him the nomination.

Senator Warren admitted that she and the VP had a long conversation but she did not go into their entire conversation. The meeting left a few people scratching their heads. What was it about?

Elizabeth Warren could turn out to be the king maker or queen maker in the next election. Whomever she throws her support behind will probably have the advantage for the nomination?

It would be interesting to see a meeting between her and Bernie Sanders...

I wonder if they agreed to say a lot of nice things about Bernie without actually endorsing him or anyone else at this point.

Find a way to work around the likely big campaign money threat to shut those down who do endorse him, and reward those that do endorse Hillary.

I really don't think Warren would serve herself well by endorsing anyone other than Bernie before the primary or for that matter be anyone else's VP besides Bernie's either. She and most of her followers know that her ideology and viewpoints are most closely aligned with Bernie, and if she sides with someone else while he is still in the race, she doesn't really help anyone else and just hurts herself.

Probably the big question is whether she should formally endorse Bernie or not. It is interesting that some are speculating that she'll be giving an endorsement shortly though. It will be interesting to see what happens then.

I have no doubt that he is thinking about it but he might be pondering such a huge undertaking at this time in his life. At this point, he has a hole in his heart, not a fire in his belly...

I could be wrong, tho. I sure have been before...

support Sanders. That's fine with me; however I too believe Sanders or Warren would be automatic losers. GOP will vote for their guy, and 5% or so recent, but not committed, Democrats will be frightened off by Sanders or Warren. Shouldn't be that way, but it is.

Out to secure as many votes as possible. Looks like they have the number with the ones pledged but I would like to see more than just Democrats.

Biden runs and names Warren his Veep right out of the gate. He promises to be a one term President, setting up Warren to succeed him.

I admit, that plan could make give Biden a second look, if only briefly.

... and in that case she wouldn't be hurting herself surrendering her senate seat where she can no longer do anything against bankruptcy bills that the president she would work for (if Biden) pushed in to being law.

I think she stays in the Senate unless Bernie calls upon her as VP if he gets nominated.

I admit up front that this is all conjecture. Not a scrap of evidence to support any of it.

But....

Assume the VP asks for and gets a briefing about those 300+ emails. He then finds out something about them, or the server, or whatever that nobody outside the investigation knows. This information makes him think Hillary is in real trouble.

He then sees a path to the nomination and decides to get serious about exploring his options. The one person who might be able to step in and collect a lot of the support for a woman candidate, plus a lot of the support for an economic populist is Sen. Warren. He meets with her to assure himself that she is not running no matter what. (The idea that he was exploring a VP pick this far out seems even more unlikely than my "creative speculation&quot

He then has lunch with Pres. Obama and brings him up to speed. Then the White House Press Secretary states that picking Joe Biden was the best political decision Pres. Obama ever made. Anyone who remembers the pressure for him to pick Hillary should consider this may be a way for Pres. Obama to distance himself from Hillary Clinton.

What we end up with is Joe Biden running because he sees Hillary Clinton as being vulnerable (at the very least) and Bernie Sanders as an "also ran" who is just drawing big crowds early in the process (I don't agree with this assessment but I can see why an establishment candidate might form that opinion).

Yes, creative speculation at best. Hair brained lunacy at worst. Even so, for me it does all seem to fit.

Go ahead, talk me down. It sounds like I need it.
