http://wtnh.com/2015/09/01/racist-remarks-get-new-haven-fire-lieutenant-suspended/I am a person that has been called that name in elementary and high school, and Ill tell you its very demoralizing and hurtful, Harp said Tuesday afternoon. My people helped to build this country on slave labor. I am enraged by this comment, but weve got to go through a process.
The post with the racial slur showed up under the name of Kevin Owens, who has been identified as a veteran lieutenant with the New Haven Fire Department. It reads, In the U.S. we call them n******. The comment was found under a story posted on the Facebook page for a right-wing British group named English and Proud. Owens was suspended immediately, a decision his union agrees with.
If its true, its very hard to defend stupidity, said Union president Capt. Jimmy Kottage. Racism cannot be accepted in our city or anywhere.
Well, it is southern Connecticut.

(14,400 posts)One of the most virulent racists I ever met lives, or lived I'm not sure anymore, in Brattleboro Vermont. Not a place I ever figured to meet someone like him.

(9,314 posts)them. How stupid and crazy are people for using racial slurs? It's 2015 and it hasn't been acceptable for years.
My Dad informed us as children that that word wasn't to pass our lips. I naver heard that word at home and at 17 walked out of a church when a deacon used it from the pulpit. Of course in that little southern town I was the one who was considered wrong but I didn't care. That was in the 70s.
