Why the left always wins social media

It's really very simple. For one thing, the root of humor is the powerless taking swipes at the powerful. The other way around can't possibly work, because it's just bullying.

For another, conservatives are incapable of creativity. Not because they are less intelligent, but because people whose prime directive is that people ought to shut up and do what they're told are incapable of thinking outside to box the connect with the surprise of the unexpected that is necessary to creating humor.

You see it all the time on Twitter. Corporation A or Politician (usually Republican) B wants to build support with a really cool "hip" new hashtag. Hilarity ensues.

I can't help but wonder what 2004 would have been like if social media had come online just a couple of years earlier. The Dean Scream would not have ended his candidacy--humorous accounts of actual reality would have spiked the MSM narrative. And Kerry could have fought the swiftboaters by inviting his supporters to mock the hell out of them.

Humor isn't funny if it isn't rooted in truth. The right wing is so used to lying, they really think they can get away with being funny while lying.

It can sometimes lead to a Fox News-style bubble, leading people to think that progressive positions are more popular than they actually are, and then being surprised by conservative victories.

To listen to Twitter, you'd think the Tories were going to be wiped out at the polls. Imagine the surprise when they won.

You're more intelligent than conservatives, so you're more powerful, but you still take a shot at them for being dumb. That would be bullying. Funny to you, but humor is always subjective.

Anyway, I probably have more power than an open Nazi, and I doubt anyone would cluck their tongue at me disparaging them. Rethugs are just white supremacists in nicer suits, so what's the difference?

Most states have Conservative governors
It's impossible to get a legal abortion in much of the country
Union membership is at an all time low
Too many states are, "Right to Work (for less)"
FDR banking safeguards have been erased
Corporations are people
Money is speech
Income disparity is at an all time high
Our cities are falling apart
It gets harder to vote
The president claims he can kill who he pleases
Drilling is starting in the Arctic
Obamacare is a Conservative plan

So please, expound on how great Liberals are doing again.

For the past 35 years the Conservatives have been getting more and more of what they want, and the only thing the Left can do is make jokes about how stupid the Right is. It's as if Nero had been doing stand-up, instead of playing a lyre.
