New call to remove statue of Confederate President (KY)

FRANKFORT, Ky. —There is a new call to remove the statue of Confederate President Jefferson Davis from the Kentucky State Capitol.

Seventy-two current and former history professors at 16 colleges and universities sent a letter to Gov. Steve Beshear and the Kentucky Historic Properties Advisory Commission.

The panel voted last month to keep the statue in the Rotunda ...

There are quite a few confederate "heroes of the South" statues in the National Rotunda. Each state is permitted to have a few statues, busts, painting of their local pride and joys. John Calhoun, Robert E. Lee, Jeff Davis and even his Vice-president -Alexander Hamilton Stephens - take up space in the Rotunda.
