Although everyone who attended pulled out their checkbook and wrote checks for $100 to get in. Or at least that is what the reporter at the event stated. She described the crowd as posh and well dressed...some of the ladies in evening gowns.
As Trump regurgitated his usual speech (I have yet to hear him utter a single new phrase at any event since he started this whole campaign) the audience was lapping it up, laughing at his well timed comments. He has said this speech so many times that even his supposedly off the cuff remarks....the insertion of "and by the way" remarks are identical from speech to speech. There is no need for him to memorize a speech per se...just the main talking points and he can appear to be speaking spontaneously and without notes. But the speeches are carefully crafted to elicit a certain response from his audience and he gets it, too.
The man genuinely frightens me because no one seems to have figured out his game. Lots of talking heads blather on and on about his seriousness for wanting to be president but only Trump knows the truth behind his plan. He has a formula for taking jabs at his fellow candidates quickly followed by a claim to like the person. Same thing with Mexicans, Chinese, Koreans etc. jab and insult in the meanest way possible...then claim to love them. Weirdest thing I have ever witnessed, but it seems to be working for him. His numbers continue to go up and the more outrageous he acts, the better they like him. There must be some really serious anger at work among the GOP electorate .....bone chilling anger. And Trump has tapped into that anger and Is Mining it for all it is worth.
