Daily Kos: The Real Fireworks Are About To Begin (Trump Gone Mad?)

-snip-

Donald Trump is not just going to propose raising taxes, and propose raising taxes on the rich, but he is going to argue that too many of the rich and large corporations have been acting like "takers."

Hoo-boy! Let the real fireworks begin:

Republican front-runner Donald Trump began to flesh out his economic vision for America, and it includes raising taxes on the wealthy. Trump said during a Wednesday interview on Bloomberg’s With All Due Respect that he would like to change the tax code.

Trump sat down with Bloomberg Politics’ Mark Halperin and John Heilemann, and surprisingly enough, he voiced his support for scrapping the carried-interest loophole, which tax hedge-fund profits at a lower rate than usual income. Eliminating the Wall Street tax break been a priority for many Democrats for quite a while.

Trump went on to complain that multi-millionaires are currently “paying very little tax and I think it’s outrageous.” After stressing his support for middle-class tax breaks – the Republican candidate has not yet outlined any specifics – Trump added, “I know people in hedge funds that pay almost nothing and it’s ridiculous, OK?”

As the NYT reports, Trump has also proposed imposing a 35% additional tax on carmakers that ship jobs overseas, and ...

Trump doesn't seem to recognize the total shock these comments will bring to his supporters ...

I agree with the writer - This little blurb is gonna blow up the juggernaut of the presumed leader of the GOP class of 2016 ...

There will be fireworks in the clown car ....

Extraordinary ....

[font color="navy" face="Verdana"]Personally, I think he's competing directly with Bernie, trying to lure back Bernie's Republican and independent supporters based on this issue.

And no, I wouldn't trust him at all to follow through if he ever won the White House. Hopefully, we'll never have to find out!

Workers suits their needs just fine.

But i will admit it is hard to envision a republican powering through the primaries on a "tax the rich" platform.

own economic issues. Since Trump feeds their bigotry, a lot of them might actually find his attacks on the untaxed wealthy appealing, especially since he still supports tax *breaks* for the middle class.

Trump is tapping into a rich vein of anger and resentment that demonizes wealthy elites and politicians as much as immigrants and people of color (and, not coincidently, sees teh Democratic party in particular as an alliance of wealthy elites with immigrants and people of color, which is why they would never vote Dem in spite of tehir class position). It's the same bouquet of resentments that animated the Know-Nothings just before the Civil War and the Populists a half-century later. This is going to play very well for him

to expose Fox News and the rightwing for what they are? Kind of like what occurred in the movie "The Wave"

Imagine Trump in front of all his followers at a rally as millions of them show up and he shows them a clip of Hitler at the end and explains to them that he is their real leader.
