If the media were even slightly adversarial...

...our system of politics would collapse overnight.

Just treat political mouthpieces as people defending a thesis, rather than big-money advertisers getting some free infotainment exposure.

Ask questions. Not hostility, just a recognition that the journalist and the PR spokesperson are adversaries in a debate forum.

Some Romney stooge on TV just said, "We have 12 million unemployed people, and that is why mitt Romney is running for president."

If the interviewer replied, "Then why was he running for president in 2008?" It would be treated as overt partisan hostility. Trying to make someone look bad. Over-the-top.

But it's the obvious question any real interviewer would ask anyone...
