FORT WORTH, Texas Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton pleaded not guilty to charges of securities fraud related to his business dealings before his election in November.
Paxton faces three charges; two for securities fraud and one for failing to register as a securities advisor. He pleaded not guilty to all three earlier this week, State District Judge George Gallagher said at a hearing on Thursday in Fort Worth.
The 52-year-old Republican faces two felony counts of engaging in fraud concerning the sale of securities, according to an indictment unsealed August 3 in state court in Collin County, north of Dallas.
Paxton "intentionally failed to disclose" to a pair of investors that he was compensated for soliciting funds for Servergy Inc., a McKinney, Texas-based technology company, according to the filing. He also failed to disclose that he received 100,000 shares of its common stock, prosecutors said.

Judging from Ken Paxtons first appearance in Tarrant County Court on securities fraud charges, his legal and political team arent ready for the fight.
In a semi-crowded room, Paxtons lead attorney, former federal Judge Joe Kendall, dramatically left the case, leaving Paxton without a lawyer.
I dont know whos going to be on the team, Paxton told Judge George Gallagher when if he had legal representation..
Judge Gallagher and most observers in the courtroom thought that Dallas lawyer Pete Schulte was one of Paxtons lawyers. Said Paxton: He has helped me in various aspects, not as co-counsel.
