Maybe it was war for me but I have no use for a gun and won't allow one in my home under any circumstances.

(18,791 posts)How many persons defended their home against an "invader" the same day as the killings?
Zero.
This gun garbage needs to stop.

(9,426 posts)What a reflection on life in these United States. The NRA and the politicians who are OWNED by them should be ashamed. As long as the check clears, and their lives are not in any danger, everything is just fine. Maybe it is time to hold the sellers accountable.

(4,033 posts)The 'religion' I most closely identify with are the Quakers.
But the next time I hear a F**ing politician I hear talking about how we should pray for the victims of the latest shooting, I may forget my non-violence! We've been praying for victims since Columbine and the problem has only gotten worse! If God was going to take care of the problem, he would have done it already. So, Oh-So-Righteous politician, get off your lazy ass and pass some sensible gun control legislation and actually DO something to address gun violence!
I'm reminded of a story my father used to tell. There had been horrible floods and a devout Christian woman was trapped on the roof of her house But she wasn't worried. She prayed to the Lord to save her and was confident he would. A neighbor came by in his canoe and said "Come on with me and I'll take you to safety". But she replied "Thanks, but the Lord will save me." A little later, the National Guard came by in a motorboat and said "Come with us and we will take you to safety". But she replied, "Thanks, but the Lord will save me." Finally a helicopter came by and told her to climb up, but she gave the same answer. Then the waters rose and swept her away and she drowned. When she arrived at the Pearly Gates, bewildered, she said to St. Peter, "But I had faith in the Lord, why did he abandon me in my hour of need?" St. Peter said, "Lady, we sent you a canoe, a motorboat, and a helicopter. What more did you want?"
So, Congresscritters, we elected you to do a job. So, quit praying about it, dammit, DO IT!!

(2,586 posts)I was hanging out at my homeboy's house and his mom was watching a TV segement in spanish. The next thing I heard was gun shots and the camera man running away. I asked him what happened and he told me that they were interviewing a woman about her dead daughter and her husband showed up and shot her dead. I was freaked out because its the first time I saw it in real life.
After googling I found out what the story was all about:

(2,586 posts)I won't hold it against you. I got my gun cuz I likes how it fires. I don't carry it with me all the time. Locks and in safes when my nephews come around. I take the fact that I have a weapon in my home very seriously. I go to an indoor gun range once every few months in homestead. But then again that's just me.
I can't speak for everyone who goes out and murders people indiscriminantly. You'll have to your Congressman as to why its easy for anyone to obtain a gun.
