So our local hospital sent a big packet to be filled out for cancer surgery, to us. Wrong person

Who ever the real patient is, they didn't get it. I called the hospital to let them know and was sent to answering machine. Left all pertinent info then called the hospital patient advocate, again answering machine, again left all pertinent info and asked how we are to trust them with our data.

Then opened a rejected bill for a procedure we did have, they had billed insurance company we have not had for over two years? Again, we had given our new insurance info when we checked in. How do we trust this hospital?

If it was a blank packet, and noobodys info was on it, then they didn't violate any HIPPA laws. If it had the specific name somewhere on the packet that is different.

Also, they violated somebody's elses right to HIPPA privacy, not the OP, so I'm not sure what standing the OP would have to sue over the packet.

Just because the billing/admissions staff is incompetent, doesn't mean the actual doctors are, but it sure doesn't give you a warm and fuzzy feeling.

people do make mistakes and they should have a chance to correct them. If they fail to do so, then consider reporting the issue.
