Mr. Robot (TV Show) did not run tonight because somebody dies on the show. Bullshit!

The reason was something like: The shooting is a little like what happened today.
So I suppose the next time a man or woman is shot in this country, we'll have to stop all shows that have a man or woman shot on a make-believe show.

Americans love to wallow in self-sorrow.

“The previously filmed season finale of Mr. Robot contains a graphic scene similar in nature to today’s tragic events in Virginia,” reads an official statement from USA. “Out of respect to the victims, their families and colleagues, and our viewers, we are postponing tonight’s episode. Our thoughts go out to all those affected during this difficult time.”

It won't hurt anybody to wait a week to see the episode.

A great show like Mr. Robot doesn't need to be tainted because it had a similar scene. Andy Greenwald (TV reviewer) made it abundantly clear here: http://grantland.com/hollywood-prospectus/why-usa-was-right-to-delay-the-mr-robot-finale/

I see where you're coming from. I've seen a lot of internet shit. Gore, nastiness, whatever.

But I wish I could take it all back. All of it. Starting from the first gore I ever saw online just over a decade ago. As it stands now I can kind of look at it and it doesn't register (though the POV shooting video really struck with me).

In that vein I can imagine myself being someone who wasn't exposed to that shit. And I can't help but feel for them because, unlike myself, exposed to utter carnage for a decade or more, they're clean. Like I wish I would be.

It's a totally different reality for a lot of people.

If Hollywood really wanted to make an impact, it would refuse to show gun deaths on TVEE...but that would hurt the bottom line and as we know - money trumps all other issues.

and pulled "The City of New York versus Homer Simpson" from syndication for years and years. And made last minute changes to upcoming fashion lines that were going to be middle east inspired. And changed album covers. Probably some other crap I'm forgetting.

Whether or not you're personally bothered by something, entertainment is a business and showing a little sensitivity to traumatized people is probably the best business move, in addition to being the high moral ground.

If your wife/friend were killed you'd appreciate a show not showing some violence in a similar fashion.

You're not going to fucking tune in to a show which you know has violence in it the same day.

Utterly ridiculous.

My parents died in a plane crash 2 days after the 9/11 thing and my sorrow was so great that seeing the planes crashing and killing all those people were like adding a 2 lb box to a loaded tractor-trailer.

But I respect your thoughts on the subject.

Delaying gratification to show respect to the grieving is a good thing, a mature thing, but not necessarily an American thing.

The title character's original last name was "Hinckley", but the show producers made the change to something else (shortly before the show's debut) following the attempted assassination of Ronald Reagan by John Hinckley.

and describing it as if you had. You say 'a little like' while the makers of the show say there was a 'graphic scene similar in nature' to the events yesterday. The people who made it say their scene is both similar and graphic, and that would be their call as they make the show. You do not know how similar or in what ways, they do.

But obviously someone needs to say I'm sorry your TV show is delayed by a week, the world will resume revolving around your entertainment needs shortly. Americans love to get what they want when they want it, no?
