2 Virginia TV station workers fatally shot on air

Two WDBJ7 employees were killed Wednesday morning in an attack at Bridgewater Plaza.

Police are looking for a suspect who apparently opened fire on WDBJ7 photographer Adam Ward and WDBJ7 reporter Alison Parker.

Adam was 27-years-old. Alison just turned 24.


This happened during a live broadcast around 6:45 a.m.

Virginia Governor says the person responsible for the shooting of 3 people was a former disgruntled employee of the station.


Parker was interviewing Vicki Gardner, executive director of the Smith Mountain Lake Regional Chamber of Commerce, when the shots rang out, The Roanoke Times newspaper reports.

close to where I live. We won't be going out until he's caught. There are a lot of places to hide around here as it's very rural. It was close to the diner that I posted a photo of.

Allison was recently engaged and planning her wedding.

There's quite a manhunt going on.

According to reports, the suspect is currently being chased North on I-81. Police have a description of the suspect and have apparently tracked him to the motorway.
