House GOP Leaders Desperate to Avoid a Shutdown

“An explosive confrontation brewing between the House Republican leadership and conservatives over Planned Parenthood is threatening to shut down the government for the second time in three years. And House GOP leaders have yet to settle on a strategy to avert it,” Politico reports.

“Many GOP aides are skeptical of using a funding bill to cut off the group’s government money, aware that the legislation would likely die in the Senate. And, even if Congress could broker a deal on Planned Parenthood, anything that cuts its government funding would likely be vetoed by President Obama.”

Expensive, useless, some people will die, and all for another temper tantrum from the most childish officials the Republicans can elect to office.

They have Absolutely ZERO reasons to worry - politically - about another shutdown. The GOP was Rewarded with a Hellava Lot more Seats.....Senate Majority after the last one.

All the kochs et al care about is hanging on to Both Senate/House in 2016...they can do More by stifling the POTUS that way. Including controlling nominees for SCOTUS.
The GOP must defend 24 Senate seats. Where do you think they'll dump the bulk of that Billion dollar investment to buy our government?
Hanging on to both chambers will give them the Best Return on their Investments, imo.

Cruz is promising a government shutdown if it means getting rid of PP funding, and we know how much Teddy-boy loves his shutdowns... especially now that he (and the rest of GOP slate of candidates) need something to not just bridge the gap between them and Trump but just something to get a little bit of attention.
