MIDLAND, Texas A Fort Bragg soldier was arrested Saturday after trying to go through a security checkpoint at a Texas airport with explosives in military-grade wrapping, according to the FBI.
Trey Scott Atwater, 30, was stopped at security at the Midland International Airport about 9 a.m. Fort Bragg officials confirm he lives in Cumberland County with his wife and children and is an instructor at the John F. Kennedy Special Warfare School.
FBI spokesman Mike Martinez said Atwater was being held at the Midland County jail and has been charged with trying to bring explosives onto an airplane. He will remain in custody at least until his arraignment Tuesday, given that the courts are closed Monday for the holiday, Martinez said.
Army officials say he is likely to face military discipline, in addition to the federal charge.

Army private accused of trying to board plane with explosives
Pfc. Christopher Wey said he found a half-ounce of C4 after being terminated from a training course and wanted to bring it home. Authorities said there were no indications of terrorism.

A 19-year-old Army private was charged Thursday with trying to board a Los Angeles-bound commercial flight with a small amount of explosive material he had taken from a training session. Federal authorities said there were no indications of terrorism.
Pfc. Christopher Wey told investigators he found the half-ounce of the explosive C4 after being terminated from a training course at the Army's Yuma Proving Ground in Arizona, court records said. No information was released about the cause of his termination.

But if a couple of guys named Ahmad and Hassan had been caught trying to do the same thing the GOP would be calling for hearings and going completely ape shit. But when it is a good ole boy it becomes, "C4, what C4?"
Funny how that works isn't it?

Must be some really good toothpaste!
Disassembled Gun and Ammo Found in Three Stuffed Animals - TSA Officers at Providence TF Green Airport (PVD) noticed what appeared to be a disassembled firearm on the X-ray screen of baggage belonging to a father and his small child. Law Enforcement Officers (LEOs) were called to the checkpoint and after searching the bag, they discovered a disassembled weapon hidden in three of the childs stuffed animals. The main frame of a .40 caliber firearm was in one animal. A magazine loaded with two .40 caliber rounds and firing pin was inside another. The slide was inside third stuffed animal. All of the necessary components to assemble a fully functional loaded firearm were artfully concealed in the three stuffed animals. This is just another example that threats can appear anywhere and this is why our Officers take a closer look at everything. Its also an example that shows that even though weve made changes to how we screen children 12 & under, the security process is still just as effective. Congratulations to our Officers at TF Green Airport for a great find!

If Wey was middle eastern, he would be locked away, tortured, held without trial or contact for years, and finally put on a show trial to be locked away for life. Here he will likely be discharged and given a 'stern warning'. I mean, anyone could make that mistake, right? We all have a bit of C4 sitting around the house for quick demo jobs!
