President Barack Obama Says Derek Jeter Once Hustled Him In Game Of Golf

Derek Jeter is presumably good at a lot of things, including golf. Unfortunately, no one told the president of the United States about that.

President Barack Obama was in Las Vegas on Monday where he spoke at a fundraiser at the home of Las Vegas Sun owner Brian Greenspun. While speaking, Obama recalled a previous trip to Vegas in which he hung out with Greenspun and New York Yankees legend Derek Jeter.

The three played golf, and it didn’t turn out very well for the commander in chief.

“(Greenspun) and Derek Jeter stole money from me at Shadow Creek,” Obama recalled, per Politico. “It was clearly a setup, because when we got to the practice range, he was shanking balls everywhere. I said, ‘You play golf, Derek?’ And he said, ‘I just started two weeks ago.'”

Obama said Jeter was given 30 strokes, which was a bad idea, as Jeter promptly steam-rolled the president on the links.

Lighten up; he was clearly joking and not actually accusing anyone of stealing.

Since handicaps are capped at 36, that would require Jeter to be worse than a 110 shooter and Obama to be a 6. Not that many people in their 50's are a 6 unless they can play every day. POTUS has a few other things to do each day.
