CHICAGO 22 protesters were arrested today when senior citizens concerned about state funding for the elderly blocked North Michigan Avenue.
The seniors stopped traffic to draw attention to the state fiscal crisis. They say Governor Bruce Rauners plan to cut their home care is both heartless and short-sighted.
----
The state estimates that 36,000 seniors could lose home care services under the rule changes sought by Governor Rauner.
----
LThe protesters want the Governor to tax corporations and the wealthy to fix the states deficit.
But instead, the Governor has proposed changing the scoring system to make it tougher for seniors to qualify.

(3,290 posts)there was a way to get rid of this sonofabi... Rauner before we go the way of Kansas or Wisconsin. Both states have republican governors that are joyously turning their states into festering pest holes of tax havens for the rich and hell for the rest of us. Especially bad for the the less fortunate among us.
Proud of those seniors.

(30,764 posts)and our majority in the state house. I know there are many in Illinois who do not like Madigan, but he is doing his job.
I wish I had gone to Springfield this year for Democrats' Day. We have too many family things going on right now, so we did not make it. Madigan did address this when he spoke there.
Let's put The Ruiner in jail where he belongs. Most of our governors end up there anyway.
