National Cancer Institute Finally Concedes: ‘Cannabis Kills Cancer’

National Cancer Institute Finally Concedes: ‘Cannabis Kills Cancer’
Author: Sarah August 22, 2015 3:45 pm

For far too long we have been told about the “dangers” of cannabis. That it is an illegal drug that can cause us harm. However, the United States government is finally owning up to the benefits of cannabis. Not only that, they now have studied, and are conceding, that it can actually kill cancer cells.

Now, when you visit the NIH National Cancer Institute’s PDQ updated website summary for “Cannabis and Cannabinoids” you will see a very conflicting message — Cannabis kills cancer, but it is still illegal on a national level.

Yes, something that kills cancer cells is still considered illegal in the United States. If that doesn’t make you furious, I don’t think much of anything else will.

If you’re unfamiliar with the term cannabinoids, they are described as such:

“Currently, the two main cannabinoids from the marijuana plant that are of medical interest are THC and CBD.

THC increases appetite and reduces nausea. The FDA-approved THC-based medications are used for these purposes. THC may also decrease pain, inflammation (swelling and redness), and muscle control problems.

CBD is a cannabinoid that does not affect the mind or behavior. It may be useful in reducing pain and inflammation, controlling epileptic seizures, and possibly even treating mental illness and addictions.

NIH-funded and other researchers are continuing to explore the possible uses of THC, CBD, and other cannabinoids for medical treatment.”

that helps your health in some way. It goes against the very nature of control over a population that needs to stay apathetic.

"Hodgkins lymphoma isn't supposed to look like aimlessly constructed corrugated cardboard. Do you use cannabis?" They asked.
"Hell yes I do." I said with muzzy enthusiasm.
"That'd do it alright." They said.

It's much abreviated but quite true.

I wish you would share a bit more. Had the doctors seen this before?

This really must get the attention of or congressional leaders. It appears they are killing people with their failed drug war.

other than surgery, radiation, and chemo.

They are severely constrained not just from prescribing other treatments, but also just discussing them at all.

If weed was legalized nationally, it would be a multi billion dollar industry. Big pharma would be able to cash in on that as well.

Right now Big Pharma has patents on every pill, inhaler, etc. they dole out to the consumers. This means they have a monopoly for a certain drug for x amount of years (I believe its seven but I could be wrong), which means $$$ in their pockets. Try buying a generic brand of Tamiflu in the U.S. if you don't believe me.

If they get into the weed business the first thing that happens is that their drugs become obselete, meaning no more Lunesta, no Prozac, etc. that will make their patents on these drugs useless. The other part would be competition since now they have to compete with every licensed grower in the country.

Long story short they have incentives to keep it illegal and keep milking the American public for their exclusive drugs with the side effects that come with it.

Ohio will have a pot legalization measure on the ballot in November, for both medicinal and personal use.The anti pot organizations and groups have moved into high gear trying to defeat it, the government changed the wording on the initiative to help defeat the bill as well. That is headed to court.

So this is great news for those of us in favor of the issue. How good it will be will depend though on how much play this statement gets.
