A reporter says Jared Fogle asked her to put hidden cameras in her children's rooms

Former Subway pitchman Jared Fogle once tried to persuade a journalist to put hidden cameras in her young children's rooms, according to the woman's claims.

"I had two young children at the time, and he talked to me about installing hidden cameras in their rooms and asked me if I would choose which child I would like him to watch," Rochelle Herman said on CNN's "Anderson Cooper 360."

Herman said she has been working with the FBI for nearly a decade in its investigation into Fogle, now 37 and the father of two children under 5.

Herman told CNN that she wore wires for more than four years to record conversations with Fogle in which he talked to her "numerous times over the course of years about having sex with minors."

"He talked about sex with underage children," she told CNN. "It was just something that he really, really enjoyed."

but they need to throw away the key. The prosecutors have said that they wouldn't ask for more than 12.5 years which could drop down to slightly over 10.6 years with good time. That means he could be out before he is 50 to abuse more children.

For ten fucking years they knew he was a child molester and they let him keep doing it so they could gather evidence.

And wtf was wrong with that reporter? What was she thinking to expose her children to the creepy perv? I get that she was part of the effort to nail him but any mother I know would have kicked him in the nards the first time he talked about sex with kids.

First time I saw that sumbitch in those ads I told my wife that guy looks like a pedophile.

What, exactly, does a pedophile look like? Please tell us, so that we can protect our children.

Not really, at-least. (I volunteered for an organization that helped exploited children and women who were victims of these kinds of sex crimes so I'm a bit familiar with how investigations often go down. This was my frustration too.)

It's not ideal or fortunate (or even a good idea IMO)...but the MO in that area of investigation is as long as they're not molesting anybody and just a consumer of kiddie porn, let's leave them "in the wild" for a while to see if they can/will lead us to producers of kiddie porn and/or active molesters of children. Also, possession of kiddie porn is a minor(-ish) offense...if they wait, they can sometimes catch them more actively attempting to act on those fantasies and pursue more serious charges. (Again, not that I think this is a good idea.)

Those big "ring" arrests you hear about from time to time where they take down a few hundred people, a few dozen websites and seize a few TB of illicit images occur because they leave assholes like Fogle "in the wild" until they stop leading them to more suspects.

If he'd acted on those desires, he'd have been arrested. The fact that he was investigated for 10 years suggests that he was a pic collector who had a vibrant fantasy life he talked about but didn't act on.

Surely if he were an active molester, they would have kept him from doing it. I guess it's a sign of the times that we don't feel certain about that. It just amazes me that somebody didn't brain him the first time they heard him talk about 'sexy' middle school girls and other such things. If he'd made a remark like that to me, I would have told everybody within earshot about it.

or really passing any judgment on it.

Often, law enforcement agencies will identify a low-level offender...,the pot buyer who happens to buy from the heroin dealer......

and they sit on that person, and wait and see what unfolds.

They need to throw everything they have at him. As long as it's enough to keep him in there for a century or so, that's fine with me.

If he said those things to these people, how many other people did he share that shit with? It's just amazing to me that he's still alive. I know people who would kill someone like him if he said some of those things around them.

Ten years is a long time for an investigation like this to last, isn't it? Surely there is much more that this investigation has yet to reveal?

You won't hear that acknowledged until they wrap those people up too. 10 years of investigation to secure a conviction for Fogle carrying 5-12 years isn't cost-effective I would agree...10 years of investigation to secure convictions for 20-100 Fogles though is generally the goal of those investigations.

They don't aim for the offender...they're aiming to disrupt and take down entire distribution networks and caches all the way back to the producers.

If he'd had drugs in his house he could be in prison for life, but child porn of six year olds(!!!) and paying for sex with minors and he will get at most 12 years. Absolutely insane! Our laws are so idiotically lax against pedophiles it makes me sick. It's one of the nastiest facets of modern America how we don't think that's a big deal. We need zero tolerance! Mandatory life sentences for ALL pedophiles!

if you know he is only consuming media at that point you can be watching his every step online and bust hundreds along the way...

Who knows how many producers (the ones you really want stopped the most) of this stuff they got leads on by taking it slow with one high profile consumer and investigating every source he had for his smut.

And who knows how many more he rolled over on as part of the plea.

Sun Aug 23, 2015, 02:13 PM

Only that he possessed the porn.

That's why my post said if he was only consuming the porn using surveillance of him to busy more is sound strategy.

It's the producers of that child porn who directly abuse and as such they are the ones you want to bust. The consumers of it are your best road in to that when you catch one.

Now yes, if he was actively, in person abusing children then they should have swooped in as soon as possible. So far with what's been released that doesn't appear to be the case.

with underage kids.

And if they knew he possessed porn only, I still don't get why it should take a freaking decade to go back to the source. Because meanwhile, new kids were being abused.
