James O'Keefe Tries to Entrap Hillary, Fails Spectacularly

Comes now word from Time Magazine that two women approached the Hillary Clinton campaign in Iowa and tried to entrap campaign officials into breaking the law. Does that sound like the MO of anyone we know? Fortunately, the officials weren't born yesterday, and now the campaign is on guard against future stunts of this nature. And so James O'Keefe can add another entry to the long list of things he's failed at.

From the story:

A Clinton campaign official alleges that the women engaged in several efforts to entrap supporters. In one scheme, described by Clinton staff, a woman attempted to pass a cash donation to Clinton volunteers and interns. In another, a woman approached the campaign on Aug. 19 and said both her parents had donated to Clinton the legal maximum of $2700 each and wanted to funnel an additional donation through their daughter, a violation of federal law. On Aug. 13, a woman claiming to be Canadian approached another Clinton fellow to ask how to falsify an address for a campaign donation.

In another instance, a woman volunteering with the Clinton campaign on voter registration efforts in Iowa City returned to the campaign’s office in Des Moines and asked whether it was okay that she refuse to register people who don’t support Clinton, the campaign official said. The Clinton campaign maintains that its policy is to register all voters, regardless of their preference in candidates.

.........

In an example of the kind of shrewd attention to detail that O'Keefe is famous for,
the phone number given by the women is listed on the website of a University of Minnesota organization called "Students for a Conservative Voice." Oops! Even better, one of the women was subsequently identified as Laura Loomer, a student at Barry University who illegally videotaped a professor earlier this year in what sounds like a fairly pathetic attempt to frame him for supporting ISIS. The university subsequently suspended Loomer, and the professor filed criminal charges against her. One would think that an individual under this kind of legal scrutiny would be well advised to avoid committing additional illegal acts, but you know what they say about the criminal element.

Kudos to Team Hillary for catching these (admittedly incompetent) crooks in the act, and I hope Team Bernie takes note and instructs its offices to be on the lookout for O'Keefe's criminals.

PLEASE, EVERYBODY, call your Congressman/woman and Senator(s) and urge them to challenge the tax exempt status of ANY church whose pastor crosses that line!

Also, anybody here or anyone anybody here KNOWS - who attends churches like that - should be urged to inform their pastors that they are putting their tax exempt status at risk. CONSEQUENCES. There need to be CONSEQUENCES for pulling this shit. Even the threat of it hanging over their heads might be enough of a deterrent. Most church pastors are keenly aware of the importance of money to their ministries.

I'm a Sanders supporter. I haven't voted for a Republican for over 20 years (it took a few years to realize that there was no value in voting for anyone who would associate him/herself with such an organization, even if the Democratic candidate was a twit...). I've voted in every election for state and national legislators, governors, and the office of the President of the United States since I turned 18. In every one of those elections for the past 20 years (I'm 45 today) I've voted for the Democratic candidate. Without exception.

I haven't always participated in caucuses or primaries. I was very enthusiastic about my vote in the 2008 Minnesota Democratic Party Caucus for Barack Obama as the Democratic nominee for the office of the President.

I saw this post and came to ask one thing - why hasn't anyone put this slug 'O'Keeffe' out of business, permanently? He's such a fraudster, it would be exceptionally easy to establish irrefutable evidence of serious felony-level crimes, with a bit of cleverness.

Then I saw your post. And it took me about 2 seconds after reading it do decide that you are much, much worse that O'Keeffe. There's no doubt that he's a complete fraud, making his pathetic living generating extremist right-wing propaganda through criminal methods. You, on the other hand, appear to consider yourself a supporter of the Democratic Party, but the things you say make supporters of the Democratic Party look insane, ugly and clueless.

God, how I wish people like you just find some other, non-political, topic to satisfy your need to bullshit. How about gardening? There's lots of controversy about best practices in gardening.

Sat Aug 22, 2015, 12:10 PM

Do you have any personal friends, because, at least online, you make lots of negative statements about people without the the slightest evidence. (Unless I tell you what I think, and I, in fact, know what I think, which is not always the case, the only way for you to know what I think is to use telepathy. Which is a fictional concept.)

I KNOW that there are BILLIONS that will be spent on the 2016 State, Congressional and Presidential elections. The vast majority of that will be spent by very wealthy right-wing extremists. Dirty tricks of every conceivable (and inconceivable, by just about anyone) type will be employed to an absurd extent.

I also know that the same thing happened in 2014, 2012, 2010, 2008, 2006....

So, yes, I DO think that lots of people will be paid to pretend to be Democrats on online discussion forums to pollute dialog.

The interesting thing, in your case, is that you assert a bizarre false equivalency: That GOPers are being paid to support Bernie Sanders in forums like this in order to reduce Hillary Clinton's chances of becoming President of the United States, but that you are certain that that the same thing is not being done to reduce Bernie Sanders' chances of becoming President of the United States. And this is, frankly, much more plausible, given that lots of very wealthy interests are actively supporting Hillary Clinton, likely because they are comfortable that she knows how to do 'business as usual' with them.

That is why your statements are absurd. YOU are more likely to be a GOP activist in disguise, working subtly to pollute the image of Bernie Sanders, cast doubt on the nature of his campaign, etc., than any single self-claiming Bernie Sanders supporter I have encountered on this site. The trolls are almost without exception rude, loose with facts, and make statements which prima facie seek to disparage supporters of either Sanders or Clinton, without recognizing that the vast majority of us understand the value and necessity of being decent to each other.

Glad the Clinton campaign people were on the ball, and on their toes. I would hope EVERYBODY on our side, from the Sanders, O'Malley, and even Webb campaigns stays sharp about this. These jerks WILL be back. They WILL try again. In any and many other ways - as many as theyThey WILL stop at nothing. Take that to the bank. I'm kind of surprised at the Planned Parenthood people for being gullible and letting their guard down, and getting played like that. Were they all living on some other planet for the past few years or something??? They of ALL people should have been wary as hell. ANYONE involved in women's health and reproductive health matters needs to be vigilant as can be.

As Mad-Eye Moody always warned Harry Potter - "CONSTANT VIGILANCE!!!!!!!"

Confusing creative and unsourced allegations with "the truth" may be convenient for the irrational mind, but it's still simply a creative and unsourced allegation.

Begin documenting and supporting your allegations with objective sources, otherwise, well... bless your little heart.

Logic is indeed, a hard skill for the undisciplined mind to master. Good luck!!!

We are a real force. People just like Bernie. When I wear my Women for Bernie pin, people come up to me and are excited to meet me because we are united by our support for Bernie.

Don't have to pay anyone to go see Bernie. He's the real deal. And so are the crowds he draws.

Our GOP Govern passed out 500,000 debt cards: Illinois didn't know
until a staffer stupidly tried to cash them back in. (the left overs)

if the GOP are smart, they are passing out debt cards to people
who can bring back a stamped ticket from a Sanders rally.

that is not why Rauner passed out gift cards. He gave them to workers who brought voters to the polls. Rauner was getting people to the polls who would vote for HIM! I question the legality of giving these to volunteers. I hope something will come of this.

If you have proof that there was anything other than this, please let me know, and let this website know.

I appreciate that you support Hillary, but let's stick to the facts.

109. Truth: is we don't know the extent to Rauner debit cards: We know he purchased $500,000w
Tue Aug 25, 2015, 11:51 AM
Aug 2015

Debit cards were not all used only to bring to people to poles, the were passed out to anyone
they wanted to give them too.

Two Black leaders changed sides to support Rauner, when they became GOP people: they
sweared that the were not bought: But then after elections they were
both given handsome jobs working for Rauner.

Don't be naive the GOP can and will buy people: they can find people
who will take money to attack Hillary: Trump paid actors
for his first rally: the crowd of people who were at the bottom of
the escalators each got 50 to 70 dollars for showing up.

GOP are not above spend money to create crowds for Sanders

You might want to ask yourself, why black women were at the Trump
rally this weekend. Trump is an original birther maybe like the actors
they were being paid.

funder would get tired of all the incompetence that he shows in his little scams. Okay, he had one big success with his smear of ACORN, but that was before he was exposed (and others started using the same tactics).

However, since then, he has had one embarrassing failure after another. Perhaps those funding these little endeavors are hoping just any little thing will stick. It reminds me of all those laughable attempts by the CIA to get Fidel Castro in the sixties. Incompetent and humiliating.

I will await the editing and the "spin" from O'Keefe and the RW media whores who resort to this kind of tactic and call it journalism to see how they manage to use it against the Clinton campaign regardless of its epic failure.
I will never forget their blatant fakery in taking down AKORN and by the time they were exposed, the dirty deed was done.
They are trying the same with Planned Parenthood who is better prepared to fight than AKORN, but nevertheless, it is a war.
Put nothing past the RW and their sack of dirty tricks, and the lengths to which they will lie when their tricks fail.
