Ted Cruz Criticizes Jimmy Carter a Day After His Cancer Admission
In his "soapbox" remarks at the Iowa State Fair on Friday, Texas Sen. Ted Cruz criticized Jimmy Carter's presidency - a day after Carter's moving public admission about his cancer.
"I think where we are today is very, very much like the late 1970's. I think the parallels between this administration and the Carter administration are uncanny, same failed domestic policy, same misery, stagnation and malaise, same feckless and naive foreign policy. In fact, the exact same countries, Russia and Iran, openly laughing at and mocking the president of the United States."
When asked about the timing of his remarks, Cruz said, according to Bloomberg News: "We can always have a discussion about public policy."

(16,254 posts)I can picture both standing back and watching others being beaten for incredibly mundane actions, with those awful smirks on their faces. Both give me the creeps. The younger's eyes show his evil soul. The elder is so horrible, I won't look at him.
Am I alone in this? There is something wrong with both.

(32,102 posts)I can handle his criticism of the Iran deal. I may even agree a little. As someone who cares a great deal about Israel we have to be very careful in these negotiations. But, like Bernie, overall I would like to see diplomacy.
But the criticism of a 90-yr old humanitarian and Nobel peace prize winner as he struggles with brain cancer is beyond the pale.

To hell with Cruz. He should go back to his homeland in Canada!

(7,968 posts)As for the Nobel Peace Prize, the Pubbies crap all over it when a Democratic president or politician is awarded it. They always say the same thing "Hitler was nominated too." Since the committee never says who was nominated I don't know where they get their information. Cruz is a creep inside and out.

What a horrible reality it was to leave the care of President Jimmy Carter for the Ronald Reagan era. Even more horrible is the thought of a return to a Trump/Cruz/Reagan presidency.

I learned this from Jonathan Alter, who said the "serpent" on the staff on the symbol of medicine is believed to be a guinea worm, which was plaguing the human race back in biblical times.
I hope President Carter lives to see this disease officially eradicated, but all the people who were never crippled and suffering are already a magnificent legacy, and only one of many.

They certainly weren't supposed to exemplify the difference between hypocrisy and honor for another 30+ sharp, engaged years.
