The Divisions Of The Civil War May Always Be With The US.

The divisions of the Civil War will still take generations to die out. These divisions will most likely be with us until the end of the 21st century and beyond. Constituencies and elements will never give up on their resentment and bitterness and the Confederate flag. The flag may not be on public buildings but it will remain elsewhere and will even be flown on private property in the North.

In that way we are like the divisions in the Middle East where ancient transgressions are never forgotten and still fester into open conflict. We may not have open conflict like that but we will have unrest and social turmoil over a war that may never be over soon enough.

The problem is that powerful economic interests exploit these resentments for their own gain. And as long as we continue to be divided over that war, these economic interests will succeed in maintaining the status quo.

related to the Geography of the U.S. The social divisions that widened the dichotomy grew out of the geographical differences.

Humans were being humans as is still the case. The constant fight for ascendancy is an ancient survival instinct.

When the Republican Party was formed in 1850's, they immediately looked for and found untenable divisions. Their strategy gave them control of the American Government until the great depression of the 20th Century. Their next opportunity to exploit
divisiveness was after the civil rights act. Their "Southern" strategy paid off for them and continues to do so.

The closing lines of Senator's campaign speech in South Carolina this week a fervent plea for us to not allow our differences to blind us to the fundamental needs of good, honest government. He knows his American History and doesn't want us to continue to be victimized by the 150 year Republican strategy of divisiveness.

If the American People fully understood the basic inhuman, criminal nature of Republican ideology. the Republican Party would
atrophy quickly.
