The long-term survival rate for malignant neoplasms of the liver are quite low, particularly at his advanced age and when the neoplasm has metastasized. Most people his age opt for palliative care.

POTUS Carter will say what needs to be said about the sick Profit Mode in Cancer Treatment. In particular, why are many hospitals near and far are focusing on Marketing their respective Cancer "Treatment" Centers, instead of focusing resources on an actual CURE for this disease.

Or the fact that Pancreatic Cancer --one of the most deadly-- who four members of POTUS Carter family died from, has had nearly no real improvements in treatment in decades -- as amazingly more of the "Marketing" of Cancer goes toward Cancer of the Breast.

Would it be possible that President Carter will say we as a NATION should be BEYOND treating Cancer will a mix of poisons: Chemo and Radiation -- and have a pill, injection, IV Mix or otherwise actual NON-POISON based CURE BASED therapy for those subject to this horrible disease.

Possibly, POTUS Carter will say that the nation need to legalize Medical Cannibus EVERYWHERE as the impacts of dealing with pain associated with Cancer has been proven scientifically to be lessen by the NATURAL treatment of Cannibus over the lethal mix of opium based drug cocktails making profit for the Big Phama at the expense of patients health.

Whatever POTUS Carter says, we pray for his health and are sad, he is now a victim of this awful disease.

(From someone who has lost over 10 family members to Cancer of various forms. CANCER SUCKS and FOCUS should be on the CURE for all CANCERS instead of Poison Treatments and Profits.)

One of them had a form of pancreatic cancer.

Modern treatment is not nearly as ineffective as some believe.

One of my friends who is recovering from breast cancer refused to even have mammograms because she distrusted Western medicine. Once her cancer diagnosis was made (without a mammogram, I presume) she began treatments and appears to be doing well.

Everyone can make their own decisions about cancer treatments, but I think that decision should be made by the patient consulting with doctors, not with people who glibly criticize evidence-based medicine because it is expensive. Evidence-based medicine isn't perfect, but it is the best we've got right now in most cases. Other "cures" can be tried. Nothing wrong with that. But science and statistics and tested medicine are still a very safe bet.

for a long time and some are even cured. We need to find out why certain families have so much cancer. If you have cancer in your family, don't smoke and don't drink very much. Learn about the carcinogens in your environment. It isn't a cure, but it can be a strategy.

Thu Aug 20, 2015, 10:28 AM

I was treated for breast cancer last year and what I came away from the experience is this - There should be more emphasis for fund raising for ALL cancers. I saw so many brave souls who were being treated for other cancers that were in far worse shape than me.

I saw a brave lady with lung cancer who opened her flower shop, got her employees started for the day, then drove the 45 miles to the Cancer center for treatment and after half a day there, drove back and did her paper work at her shop. There was a young mother being treated for colon cancer who had three children under age 6, one was a nine month old baby. These stories could go on and on, all such brave people, young and old.

After seeing this, I feel that the run for the cure needs to change their mission so it is for all cancers.

I am so sorry for President Carter's cancer. He is such a fine example of what a retired President should do and how he should represent our country. He is also a fine example of how a Christian should act in the modern world. I voted for him both times he ran.
