Bear in mind that everything is now being done with much more public scrutiny. A convention fight (Trump wouldn't go quietly) would be a disaster for whomever ended up as the eventual nominee.

Evidently, Faux is going to give him a free ride. They know that if they screw with him, he'll just go to another network with his 24 million enthrallees. It would mean either they'd be force to run a unabashed lunatic (Trump) as their nominee in the general, or if they nix Trump at the convention, Jeb or whomever else would have a stink of illegitimacy about them.

My only concern is that Trump as a general election nominee means he's one step closer to the White House, and no matter how remote, I don't want my country to even get close to the possibility of that nut in there.
