http://www.rawstory.com/2015/08/angry-twitter-users-hammer-fox-news-for-insulting-jimmy-carter-on-day-he-announced-cancer-diagnosis/On Wednesday, former U.S. president Jimmy Carter revealed he has advanced cancer. That prompted an outpouring of support by many and a nasty tweet by Fox News.
Recent liver surgery revealed that I have cancer that now is in other parts of my body. I will be rearranging my schedule as necessary so I can undergo treatment by physicians at Emory Healthcare. A more complete public statement will be made when facts are known, possibly next week, Carter wrote in a statement posted to his foundation website.
A wide range of political and media personalities chimed in to wish Carter well.
Vice President Biden ✔@VP
Spoke with President Jimmy Carter tonight. A great man, always upbeat and optimistic. We're praying for him.

Schlussel was born in Southfield, Michigan to a family of Polish Jewish descent. Her father, H.L. Schlussel, was the son of immigrants. An ophthalmologist who also served in the United States Army, he has been a major influence in his daughter's life.[1] She became active in politics at an early age, joining the National Teenage Republicans. She worked for Republican Congressman Mark D. Siljander at age 16, was a Jack Kemp delegate at the 1988 Republican National Convention and has worked on numerous political campaigns.[2]

He also worked for Jack Kemp during the Presidency of George H. W. Bush.[2]

(9,426 posts)Republicans think anyone who helps others the way President Carter has done his entire life, has to be insane. They are all in "what's in it for me" mindset. Name ANY good deeds the Bush family has been involved with during their long political history. They help each excusion into the ME. other. W now has a charity (probably siphons off $$$) supposed to help veterans, who were wounded because of HIS adventure in the ME. It disgusts me to see the Bush family posing for photo ops while a young man with missing limbs proposed to his girlfriend. He would have been unharmed if not for W, yet the smirking asshole has the gall to pose for photo ops with the people he maimed.
I am so mad, I can not type properly. Speaking of charity, why not have GHW jump out of another plane, with W on his back. Have Crash McCain fly it, and I volunteer to pack the chute. All proceeds go to the servicepeople maimed for their oil profits.

(2,707 posts)lets see how Fox reacts then. I'll be sure to troll every article on Bush Sr.'s passing, and write diaries (that turn up sometimes in google searches) about how he would've lost in a landslide were not for Perot, and how he ushered in an era in which Dems won the pop vote 5 out of 6 times, and how shitty the kids he gave the world are.

(6,930 posts)when a Republican is stricken with some sort of malady or misfortune. It is by no means most of the DU posters, but I have seen it here. I dislike grave dancing from either side. It is simply inhuman to engage in that sort of nastiness. During Bush the elder's recent fall and injury, I saw many such scurrilous posts. We should be better than that.

(45,850 posts)Schlussel is a member of the Detroit Film Critics Society, who reviews films for both radio and her web site.[7] The New York Times described her in 2010 as, "a kind of all-purpose film critic, political commentator and Web opinion spinner."[8] Her columns (mainly about politics) have been published in the New York Post, The Wall Street Journal, The Washington Times, and The Jerusalem Post, amongst others. Her film reviews are posted at Big Hollywood, which is part of Breitbart.com. She was a talk show host on radio in Detroit, from 2002 to 2003.[9]
View of Muslims
The main focus of Schlussel's journalism is writing about elements of American Islamic society that she views as negative. For example, as a right-wing observer of Arab Detroit, she has written about potential terrorists in that Arab-American community.[10] Schlussel has often alleged that mainstream American politicians, ranging from Republican Fred Thompson to Democrat Barack Obama, have connections with radical Islam,[11] and in October 2001 she criticized President George W. Bush for alleged ties to the Council on AmericanIslamic Relations,[12] a group with which she would tangle in court a decade later.[13][14] In 2005, Schlussel achieved some notoriety because of an editorial in the Wall Street Journal accusing Morgan Spurlock (who produced the documentary series 30 Days and film Super Size Me) of unbalanced and faulty methods in preparing a documentary about Islam.[15][16]
Also in 2005, Schlussel opined that "WNBA players are bad role models for young girls", citing as one example Anna DeForge, who is a lesbian.[17][18] She was criticized for these statements by player Kayte Christensen in an Arizona Republic column.[18][19]
During and following the 2006 captivity of American journalist Jill Carroll in Iraq, Schlussel said that Carroll hated Israel and America, and implied that Carroll sympathized with her captors.[20][21] When objections were raised,[22][23] she responded to her critics as "blind worshippers of Jill Carroll" in need of "LASIK."[24] In 2007, she said that atheists are intolerant of Christians,[25][26] and wrote that American Muslims are no more moderate than those in the Middle East; that blog post of hers was read aloud on The Rush Limbaugh Show.[27][28] Other conservative commentators have not been so favorable; for example, Aaron Goldstein and John Tabin of The American Spectator have criticized Schlussel for not being very diligent and for being unreliable.[29][30]
In 2011, Schlussel provoked controversy by her comments after CBS reporter Lara Logan was sexually assaulted while covering Egyptian protests. Schlussel stated, "Lara Logan was among the chief cheerleaders of this 'revolution' by animals. Now she knows what Islamic revolution is really all about. So sad, too bad, Lara."[31][32][33]
Calling for the killing of Muslims controversy
After the killing of Osama bin Laden, Schlussel wrote on her blog "1 down, 1.8 billion to go", referring to the world's Muslim population.[31][34][35] In 2011, she was listed by the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) as one of 10 people in the United States' "Anti-Muslim Inner Circle".[36][37]

(2,062 posts)Funny thing is President Carter is more Christian then any of the arrogant pricks that responded to his cancer diagnosis as we read here. Debbie Schlussel on twitter claims she never said any bad words or cursing, but was shocked that several "lefties" as she puts it called her a cunt.....we go with it, because this man is more of a GOD follower then you will ever be Debbie Schlussel.... you are a POS.. so hmmmm lets see.... oh yes FUCK YOU.

(2,382 posts)... that the Fox News organization is infested with, indeed RULED by, irredeemable sociopaths devoid of conscience. Such is the legacy of that evil pig, the third-rate hack novelist that called herself Ayn Rand. When speaking publicly - and I heard her in person in 1968 - she never passed up the chance to denounce altruism in even its most benign forms. She advocated the complete eradication of altruism.
Pox News is the malignant manifestation of Rand's diseased, bumper-sticker "philosophy." Schussel is a seething furnace of malice who isn't fit to lick the soles of Carter's shoes.
