(583 posts)The claim that abortion is a form of black genocide has been around since the 80's. Its proponents put forth stats about the number and percentage of black women having abortions. If they are smart enough, they bring Sanger's unsavory eugenics crap into the mix.

(23,946 posts)Pandering, or being forced to pander, to crazy all-white GOP crowds half a year before any votes are cast, that is what the fucked up GOP primary system is built around.
The Democratic system is only half as fucked up as that.

Ben Carson, sociopolitical idiot.

(3,732 posts)Also notice how curiously it conflicts with the very same GOP's welfare theme about single women having too many babies? Talk about things that make you go hmmm...
Though, interestingly, the reverse of this has always been the bogeyman of immigration politics: all those Mexicans are Catholics, and they don't use birth control. Therefore, smaller White protestant families that allow birth control, will get easily swamped by this religion who won't get with their program.
Interesting cultural landmine. A lot of people would like to be able to discuss population policy as part of sensible US policy that raises the quality of life for everyone. But since this is a pluralistic culture that includes many religions and belief systems - and a political system that is highly malleable by identity politics - any discussion of population is going to automatically result in a conspiracy theory.
