Presidential candidate Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) told Politico on Monday that he thought GOP candidates were "foolish" to criticize fellow Republican candidate Donald Trump.
I would
note that an awful lot of Republicans, including other Republican candidates, have gone out of their way to smack Donald Trump with a stick. Now I think thats just foolish, Cruz told Politico.
When Politico asked Cruz why, he responded, "Donald Trump had a rally in Phoenix, Ariz. (to which) between 10 and 20 thousand people came out. When you attack and vilify the people at that rally as crazies, it does nothing to help Republicans win in 2016."
Cruz has been criticized by other Republican candidates, including New Jersey Gov. Chris Chris Christie, for refusing to denounce Trump's comments on undocumented immigrants.

(45,251 posts)It's the rare Republican politician who has met a billionaire he wants to criticize.
The Huckabees of the field speak up only because they can't get any traction with The DoneIn in the race. Whenever they do get face time on TV, all interviewers ask them about is The Donald. So, they want him out because they figure it's him or them.
Cruz can stand back and watch the media and the others in the race aid Trump in his self-inflicted wounds, then be ready with comfort and an open treasure chest when Donald flames out. It's not a bad move for him.

(9,901 posts)Earlier this year when asked about Cruz being born in Canada, Trump said "It was problematic".
Most of Cruz's supporters are birthers, and Trump can turn them against Cruz like no other.
Cruz knows this, so he will suck up to Trump to stay out of his line of fire. Trump is such an ass, he'll likely turn on him anyway.

(21,925 posts)a la "Leave Britney Alone!!!" and I'm sure his candidacy would get lots of attention. "How fucking dare anyone make fun of him after all he's been through. He's been through a divorce and a bankruptcy. He's a human. All you people want is more, more, more, more, more. You people are lucky he even performs for you. Leave Donald Alone. He's not well right now."
I'd pay money to see Ted Cruz say that about Donald Trump like that.
