Florida pastor, who's terrible at math, claims defunding Planned Parenthood would fix national debt

Florida pastor, who's terrible at math, claims defunding Planned Parenthood would fix national debt
Posted By Colin Wolf on Mon, Aug 10, 2015 at 2:04 PM

Dr. Craig Conner, a senior pastor at First Baptist Church in Panama City and a man who desperately needs a calculator, claimed during his Sunday sermon, August 9, that defunding Planned Parenthood would fix our nation's national debt "immediately."

According to Raw Story, Conner stated he would rather stop paying his taxes and go to jail if the federal government continued to spend $540 million a year on Planned Parenthood, which is only a fraction of the $18 trillion our country currently owes in outstanding public debt.

"It must go because Planned Parenthood is to children what ISIS is to Christians,” said Conner. “It’s an extreme threat.”

"You want to talk about reducing the national debt?” Conner continued. “We could reduce it overnight if they would defund this evil organization and put it on the national debt. Man, we could get out of debt immediately.”

I have been amazed at how many people do not have a clue as to the difference between a million, billion, and trillion. It is almost like Rain Man discussion how much a candy bar or a car costs - it is the same for him.

Argument extends to foreign aid. After you subtract the foreign aid done to support strategic objectives (Israel, Egypt, Iraq, Afghanistan for example), the actual amount we send for compassionate relief (think Haiti) is miniscule.

All he has to do is do what pastors at the traditional peace churches have done for decades: Accept pay low enough to avoid federal taxes altogether. In the case of the peace churches, it's done so that none of their money goes to fund the imperial war machine.

But I'm guessing the "senior pastor" has appearances to keep up, and plain dress isn't really an option for such an important personage.

charging everything to the church and hoping he doesn't get caught.

We'd close the debt sooner, and increase funding of PP, if churches paid taxes.

Thousands upon thousands of babies would be born to women who cannot afford contraception much less a child. They would end up being supported by taxpayers since food, clothing and shelter doesn't appear out of the sky on a flaming pie. And I doubt Rev. Whatshisname is interested in supporting any personally. Pro-birth, anti-life.

I would wager more than 95% of the true victims of ISIS are muslim not christian. Maybe even higher.

He knows how many dollars saying stuff like that will pull. In, and and he knows the probability of his flock caring about the numbers is zero.
