GOP Sen. says abortion is a 'men's issue', demands defunding Planned Parenthood

After an anti-abortion group released a series of sting videos uncovering alleged illegal practices by Planned Parenthood, the issue of abortion came back into the spotlight. With Republicans failing to pass anti-abortion legislation in Congress Monday afternoon, one Senator made an unusual argument against a woman's right to choose.

Needing 60 votes to proceed, Republicans in the Senate were only able to grab 53 as the measure to defund Planned Parenthood failed on the floor on August 3. During the debate, Sen. Barbara Boxer of California made her case as to why the federal government needed to continue to fund the women's health organization, stating, "I’m pro-choice and I just have to say, using pregnancy as a political football doesn’t sit well with the people I represent and the people of this country." In response, Republican Sen. James Lankford of Oklahoma fired back, saying that because he "had something to do with the birth" of his kids, that he and other men should be allowed in the abortion debate.

"I'm a dad of two daughters. I had something to do with the birth," Lankford said. Reiterating his anti-abortion views, Lankford said that the "culture has been wrong" to allow abortion in the country.

Boxer appeared to shrug off Lankford's comments, saying "I just don’t like lectures by men about what it’s like." Calling both sides to respect each other's views, the California Senator said, "Keep Uncle Sam out of my private life and my children’s and my grandkids’ and your’s. Families will make these decisions with their God, with their doctor."

My comment: Basically what this man is saying is that men own women and their bodies. THEY. DO. NOT.

MEN's choice about abortion has a place, to be sure: That place is AT THEIR PANTS ZIPPER. That's where they make their choice. If they unzip, they're DONE. Whatever happens after that - they may NOT like it - but it's not up to them by that time. They're DONE.

Any male who chooses to partake, GIVES UP the right to have a damn thing to say about what happens after that. It's HER body.

YOU control YOURS.

SHE controls HERS. End of story.

YOU put your stuff in HER then it's HERS to do with as SHE pleases.

>>>>>>> Don't like that? THEN. DON'T. DO. IT. <<<<<<<

Goddamn. Listen guys - STOP trying to control women -- and LEARN TO CONTROL YOURSELVES!

He had something to do with the conception. At least he hopes so.

Conception. They don't have to participate in that. They can choose not to.

Because if they choose to participate, the outcome may well be something they don't want to happen. The truth is they have absolutely no control over that. And that total lack of control is what many men cannot handle.

Solution: don't participate in conception activities. THAT is where men have complete control and that's where their choice in the whole thing lies.

I get so sick of some men whining that the 'have no choice' in abortion.

Yes they do. They can choose not to participate in conception/sex.

They just don't want to take responsibility for the choices they make and the consequences of those choices.

They want to make someone else (the woman) responsible.

NOPE.
