GOP senator: I can lecture women on pregnancy because abortion is a ‘men’s issue’

Republican Sen. James Lankford of Oklahoma argued on Monday that he had the right to lecture women about whether or not they should get abortions because he had impregnated his wife and “had something to do with the birth.”

During a debate on the Senate floor about whether or not to defund Planned Parenthood, Lankford argued that the “culture has been wrong” to allow abortion.

Lankford said that it was “entirely reasonable” to take Planned Parenthood’s funding and “commit it to organizations who do full women’s health.”

Sen. Barbara Boxer, however, said that she was bothered by men like Lankford lecturing women about reproductive health.

“I just don’t like lectures by men about what it’s like,” Boxer told Lankford. “I’m pro-choice and I just have to say, using pregnancy as a political football doesn’t sit well with the people I represent and the people of this country.”

“We have to respect one another,” she continued. “I respect your view entirely. I’m asking you to respect mine. Keep Uncle Sam out of my private life and my children’s and my grandkids’ and your’s. Families will make these decisions with their God, with their doctor.”

Two children already - not enough income to do much more damage.

Last time I mentioned this, I got thrown into the juror's pool, but I think it is still merited:

Men that abuse children, rape other people, or promote that type of behavior,
should have forced vasectomies (or castration.)

We are a brutish society. We are perfectly willing to let the boys-in-blue kill innocent people.

If a woman, married or not, is forced to have sex by a man and the proof is strong, that man should lose his ability to father children. Even better, he should lose the desire to inflict his domination on others.

Maybe inside a marriage or a long-term relationship the man can have some say, but in the end it's up to the woman.

When my boys were teens, I often told then that it may not be fair, but it's right that if they get a woman pregnant, in the end it's her decision and her decision only whether or not to have the baby. Even if they're very unhappy about that decision. They won't be pregnant, they won't go through anything connect to a pregnancy, and too bad.

I prefer to point out to the anti-choice crowd that if they don't believe in abortion then they shouldn't have one.

as soon as a single woman find out that she is pregnant she should file in court for full child support and medical insurance that would be allocated to a child that has been born. Imagine how that would fly when a married man gets another woman pregnant.

Lankford is a total idiot, and unfortunately one of my senators.

Special note to Lankford...sperm donors do not have to be present when a woman becomes pregnant...we men donate sperm...not much of a role in producing offspring...

faithful, conservative leader:

. . . .

Encouraging personal faith, committed families, practical education and the critical need for everyone to invest in the next generation has always been important to Senator Lankford. Before James’ time in Congress, he served as the Director of the Falls Creek Youth Camp and Director of Student Ministry at the Baptist Convention of Oklahoma from 1995 to 2009. Falls Creek is the largest youth camp in the United States, with more than 51,000 students and adults attending each summer.

Lankford's comment about PP is simply stupid. There is no other organization that does as much as PP for women's health. It's pathetic that people like Lankford get elected to office only because they aren't smart enough to do a real job.

like reminding her to breathe and cutting the umbilical cord. Clearly manly arduous work that is way harder than the birthing process. I mean the woman gets to just lay there on a bed and relax after getting doped up.

For the impaired, please insert your own sarcasm icon here.

But more seriously, do these people not actually think about what they are saying before they say it? How does that sentence get formed in his mind without some sort of common sense kicking in to stop him from saying it out loud by reminding him, wait, I just stand there or sit in the waiting room while she is (as my mom described childbirth to me) shoving a wet saint bernard through a cat door.

Fri Aug 7, 2015, 01:27 AM

with males who whine "But what about MY rights? It's my baby too!"

Lemme break it down for anyone who doesn't get it:

Men, you have rights. You have the right to decide if and when you want to donate your sperm to a woman. That's a huge decision. Make it wisely! Because once you have given her the sperm, she's in charge of it and anything that grows from it.

Pregnancy is her risk, her burden if it happens, her expense, her medical consequences. So she decides, not you. If you don't like that idea, don't give her any of your sperm. See? Easy!

(Now, if she managed to steal your sperm, maybe by taking you up in a spaceship and using an alien probe on you against your will, I dunno, maybe you have a case. But iassuming your donation was voluntary, quit whining. She's in charge as soon as your three seconds of glory are done.

Now I've heard some of you fine Christian men cry that a "baby" of yours was aborted by some ungodly hussy who cared nothing about your fatherly devotion to the "child." Here's how you could have prevented that:

-- only have sex with your wife
-- marry a woman who is pro-life.
-- do not have sex with her unless she says she is ready to have a child with you.

(Because, ya know, if you run around having sex with random women, you can't really expect to control their decisions and health and future. Nor are you acting particularly Christian.)

See how easy that is? Now, go away. You irritate the fuck outa me.
