Colorado Rep Who Said Gays Will Be Drowned For Molesting Children Calls A Twice-Convicted Child Molester His New FriendJust last week, we brought to you a tale of macabre courtesy of Colorado state representative (and former military chaplain) Gordon Klingenschmitt, who terrorized the world with his giddily gruesome views that gay Boy Scouts leaders will be hung around his neck drowned in the depths of the sea.
If your boy is in one of these organizations, he urged, you need to get him out of there. Because what theyre going to do is promote homosexual men to mentoring and camping with your boys in the woods. And it will lead to child abuse The children are in danger. Its not about the sexual pleasure of the adults.
Which is why its deeply perplexing, if not deeply surprising, that Right Wing Watch has now revealed Klingenschmitt recently featured a certain David Dorty on his video ministry Pray In Jesus Name News on July 16; an El Paso politician who has been twice convicted of sexual child abuse, once by a person in a position of trust.
It seems the difference is that Dorty and his posse assure that hes been reformed with a little help from his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Klingenschmitt, who called Dorty a new friend during the segment, is now beginning to backtrack as this story makes the rounds. The Gazette reports that hes now insisting he wasnt aware of Dortys prior convictions at all.

(5,614 posts)I once met a man who thought that since he accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior he would go to heaven and could do whatever he wanted while he waited for that joyous event to occur. This was a while back (the guy was a VietNam veteran known to me for many years) but I have heard that idea expressed many, many times since. Apparently Christ gives a blank check to his followers that they can use to do things like child abuse, etc, and have it brushed aside by religion.
To me this is madness. I believe in that old tv slogan, if you can't do the time, don't do the crime. If you are inclined to evil, like the guy in the OP, leave God out of it.
And if you are going to preach morality, like the religious conservatives often do, try not to embarrass the rest of us by showing just what hypocritical assholes you tend to be.

Nothing you do matters as long as you accept the imaginary skydaddy at the end.
