Comedian and actor D.L. Hughley had a few things to say about GOP presidential frontrunner Donald Trump, including how his popularity can be directly attributed to his racism.
With the GOP debate this week, Hughley was asked if the GOP would try to stop the blustery businessman on the sidelines.
I think the more racist stuff Trump says, the better he does in the polls, the comedian said. If he said n****r, hed be elected tomorrow. Anybody that takes Trump Trump being president is like Flavor Flav winning a spelling bee. I just dont know how they take that seriously.
Hughley also mocked the rest of the GOP field for trailing Trump in the polls. I think hes turned the whole thing into a reality show, Hughley explained. How sorry are the other people running if Donald Trump is their best choice? How bad can your self-esteem be hurt when youre getting your ass beat by Donald Trump in a political event. http://www.rawstory.com/2015/08/d-l-hughley-trumps-popularity-is-tied-to-his-racism-if-he-said-nr-hed-be-elected-tomorrow/

(1,309 posts)In other words is a person who believes African Americans and other than the whites are inferior and acts accordingly worse than a rich one percenter who believes he and other rich are superior to everyone not in their class? Does racism, obviously an evil against the substantial proportion of our country's people who African Americans, Asian Americans, and Middle Eastern Americans, Hispanic Americans etc., create more harm than the greed of a rich elitist who believes he has more rights to wealth and political power than the American people do and strips away the dignity of working families, the 99 percent, in order to amass more and more wealth and power by creating divisions within the working class.
Does an ignorant white supremacist constitute the larger evil or is he the necessary creation and weapon of the elitist to keep the races separate in order to control the ballot box and elect those who serve the elitist desire for more money and political power.?
Do we democrats ourselves fall into an elitist trap when we constantly ask why do poor southern whites vote against their own self interests? Is this really a question, sometimes maybe but continued asking without any real discussion aimed at actually acknowledging they are manipulated into believing what they do by a whole menagerie of weapons used by the political hacks of the rich is in itself elitism. When we democrats know the answer and believe our answer serves everyone without regard to circumstances, are we not elitists? Elitism is a deadly force and must not be allowed within our ranks. We must not succumb to this trap ourselves as we feel superior by our liberal actions and ideas. We must act with understanding that elitism is a false pride that goeth before our fall. We must listen to the voices of the poor but understand they believe what they do based on what they are taught and what they need to believe. Rather than criticize their beliefs, we must provide truthful history especially as it relates to the class struggle instituted by the rich. We must understand poor whites need to feel superior to someone for their own sense of worth, after all they have little of monetary value, and little hope of economic improvement, in a society that continually derides their efforts as failing because they deserve to fail , appeals to weakened ego that their failure is due to African Americans unjustly taking jobs and tax dollars well and they as we in the North say , vote against their own interests, continually electing those who take more and more of their wages and security in order to satisfy the greed of elite rich people.
Trump is a rich elitist. Whether he personally views people of color as inferior is beside the point. He views everyone except his rich class as inferior and justifies their theft of our dignity and our wages based on his elitist beliefs. We waste great effort here on Trump as a candidate because the republican clown show is only meant to draw the public's attention from the only campaign intended to reduce the power of these elitists over our people. That is the campaign of Bernie Sanders. So if you want to fight racism, police brutality etc., do not be misled by men in expensive 3 piece or women in pant suits busily covering over the societal wounds with band aids to prevent uprising by the people. Do not judge a candidate by how many band-aids they have supported but by their support of democracy and their willingness to take on the oligarchy.
Remember as you hear and see main stream media, who owns it. Be vigilant and listen to words, and guard against the laziness of only listening for characterizations and conclusions. Hear Bernie's speeches. Hear Hillary. Hear O Malley, but please do not spend so much time entertained by the republican clown car that you forget to listen to the actual words of the democratic candidates.
