... The Legislature returned to work Monday with a Senate committee passing a host of bills. Most of them had little or nothing to do with the $200 million budget hole in the General Fund ... The first, sponsored by Sen. Greg Albritton, R-Range, would abolish marriage licenses in the state ... The committee also passed two bills sponsored by Sen. Gerald Allen, R-Tuscaloosa. One would prevent the removal of historic monuments. Allen filed the bill shortly after Gov. Robert Bentley removed four Confederate flags from an 1898 monument to Confederate soldiers ... The committee also passed an Allen bill that would allow the carrying of loaded firearms in vehicles without a permit ... The marriage, firearm and historic monument bills were not included in Gov. Robert Bentley's special session call ...

Ya go over polynomial factoring and rational expressions, ask students to simplify (x^2-1)/(x^2 + 2x + 1) and a bunch cancel the x^2
Or ya say repeatedly during hours and hours of classes that a probability is always between 0 and 1 and give folk a simple problem, for which many produce answers like 2.3
