Trump widens lead in new poll (more than 2-to-1 lead over the next closest contender)

Trump takes 26 percent support, followed by Jeb Bush at 12 percent. Trump’s support has doubled in the poll since mid-July, when he had at 13 percent support and trailing Bush, who was in the lead at 15 percent. It’s the latest survey to show the businessman and reality TV star pulling away from the pack of Republican presidential candidates nationally.

<snip>

Trump has a 20-point lead over Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker among Tea Party supporters, and leads him by 11 points among those who identify as “very conservative.” Trump has an 8-point lead over Bush, a former Florida governor, among those who identify as “somewhat conservative,” and also leads Bush by 8 points among those who describe themselves as moderates.

Trump leads in every age category, and is the top choice of men and women in the survey.

GOP got some hurt in their back pocket -- and it is slowly creeping up into their Koch pocket

A very large part of the voting public, IMHO, votes purely on personality. They may try and justify it with some Republucan bullshit -- and occasionally even believe the Republican bullshit -- but the bullshit is there to provide easy cognitive dissonance and is paid for (usually) by Koch money.

Reagan, Bush, McCain, Romney: these people all had numerous agenda items directly opposed to the interests of the people voting for them, yet people "wanted to have a beer with them" or "made them proud to be an American again" or "knew how to keep America safe." All demonstrably meaningless bullshit, but people liked what they heard.

(Not that their other candidates aren't moronic villains as well.)

I have a rich and vivid descriptive vocabulary, much of it learned from Hunter S. Thompson, but I am flummoxed, skunked, and buffaloed at how to properly describe this toxic quasi-human sludge.

Even "duck-fucking, toenail-chewing imbecile cave orcs" seems sadly insufficient.

contain himself... laugh off the personal insults headed his way... be self-deprecating.

He might actually get the nomination... or (my dream) generate enough votes to go third party.

And that provides us with a once in a life-time chance to nominate someone about as far left as we've seen in generations.

Because the ONLY votes Trump will get is around 30 to 40 percent of repukes... maybe 20 million... we will mop the floor... and, because so many repukes will stay home, we will clean up on the House and Senate races too.
