TeaBagger attorney general (TX, natch) indicted. Oh well that's what TX judges are for, to dismiss

Where the article talks about what "Texans deserve..." - well, given that its TeaBagger sweep of statewide offices is due to most of the eligible voters NOT VOTING and letting a tiny minority of wingnuts who ALWAYS VOTE stack the offices, Texans get what they deserve.

Texas attorney general indicted by grand jury on fraud charges: reports

The attorney general of Texas has been indicted on securities fraud and other charges over an alleged scheme to mislead investors in a technology company, the New York Times and other media reported on Saturday. The three-count indictment against Ken Paxton, a Republican, will be unsealed in Dallas on Monday, when the former longtime state lawmaker is expected to turn himself in to authorities, according to the Times. ....

The grand jury had been asked to determine whether there was enough evidence to indict Paxton, who came to office earlier this year with strong Tea Party support, on first-degree felony charges.

Paxton drew national attention when he said county clerks in Texas who object to gay marriage on religious grounds can refuse to issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples despite the landmark U.S. Supreme Court ruling in June requiring states to allow same-sex marriage. ....

Paxton's name also appears in a federal court document as a major investor in a Dallas-area firm in a U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission investigation.

"Texans deserve an AG who spends his time putting lawbreakers in jail rather than one desperately trying to avoid jail time himself," said Matt Angle, director of the Lone Star Project and a prominent critic of Paxton. ....

The fact that Paxton was a crook was known prior to the Nov. 2014 election but GOP voters voted for him anyway

I know the Democratic candidate, Sam Houston, and he is a good guy who would be doing a far better job than Paxton

Gene Kelly: The Democratic Party's Version of Herpes
No, not THAT ONE!

The nuisance who just won't go away, Gene Kelly, is back for another run at U.S. Senate. He's thrown his hat in the ring for the Democratic nomination, pitting him against Houston's Rick Noriega and Corpus Christi's Ray McMurrey. The winner will challenge incumbent Republican John Cornyn.

If you're new to Texas politics, we're not talking about the dancer. This Gene Kelly is an annoying thorn in the side of the Democratic Party for years. He enters his recognizable names in elections, and then never actually campaigns or makes himself seen in any way. As near as anyone can figure, he's just a narcissist in bad need of a hobby who gets a thrill seeing his name on the ballot. ....

This county is among the reddest in the state, if not the country. The case against him must be overwhelming.

11. Outreach ain't the biggest part of the problem. The problem is that Hispanics (in Texas?)

don't vote. If every eligible Hispanic voted, Texas wouldn't be purple or red. African Americans and LBJ made voting the main event, which has seldom happened with Hispanics. They wildly related to the KENNEDYs because of the Catholicism and LBJ because he was home grown and could at least know they weren't from another planet, and with the CLINTONs up to '08 when they were fairly wild for Hillary until OBAMA took her out.

As for other problems, education ends with dropping out. The ones who achieve a modicum of success and who bust their butts working find it appealing to buy-in to the redneck/wingnut version of things, that "the Dem party is for WELFARE."

The enthusiasm sort of dries out about there. As Bill C. said about Dems in general, "We Dems have to be IN LOVE" (with a candidate, like back with the KENNEDYs). They could not relate to the Bostonian/NYers that Wendy DAVIS sent to do outreach with them, much less to DAVIS herself or even Ms VAN DE PUTTE a Hispanic herself.

Unfortunately, for those who turn out, they liked Shrub. It's a personality thing -- faking the sincere smile, the hug, even one fractured word just because they're so needy about being LIKED BY SOME DANG BODY.

The ones who are working-poor and below, at the subsistence level, have their life situations staring them in the face and to them voting is a luxury item, not immediate in results. The level above that, economically, are in peril of being susceptible to the wingnuts because they feel threatened or want to put more space between themselves and the subsistence level.

Anyway, the night in shining armor is far more of a draw than yakking about "issues" and ideology.
