I pledge to remove MSNBC from my preferred channels.

Four reasons:

Ed Schultz
Chuck Todd
Joe Scarborough
The writing on the wall

MSNBC has decided it is "going in a different direction" quote Ed.

As it happens, that's not the direction I choose to go. They no longer want my viewership, and that's ok. It was a nice place to visit for a few years, but I'll just mosey on down the road until I find friendlier folk.

come home tired from work, for example, flip the channels for something to watch/hear, maybe while cooking dinner, and they now get a lot of RW drivel on the TV. They probably aren't going to search out balanced media, so they hear the RW drivel on TV propaganda that bends their minds IMO. Counterbalance is now lacking as they are sucked into corporate MSM and mindsets, programmed for 2016. And, that is the plan.

watching our news on the internet we abandon a lot of the people in the country to the propaganda stations.

I do not know what to do about it but people who are left ignorant about the issues are not going to help the situation any.

Al Gore tried to build a progressive station but it did not work. Many of our radio progressives are gone and we have a few magazines (Solon, The Nation and Yes!) left on our side but for the most part if people like Ed and Keith do not move to counter this I do not know how to fix it.

It seems to me that sources like Link, FreeSpeech.com, WeGotEd.com etc. need to invite all progressives to find a way to work together. And that includes the progressives who are still working for MSNBC.

But I suppose the problem in the end is like everything else - money.

The time I spent with the programs I valued...have so shrunken since Olbermann, Uyger, Ed Shultz (1st time) Bashir and now Ed again.
Ed was the Only one I recorded to watch later. His audience is the ordinary worker/union..and he was on Way too early...by design? A set up for failure? His show Never repeated. It's not hard to notice that and have questions, imo.

I hope concast doesn't mind a Way worse rating..because I simply can't figure how griffin/concasts decisions are gonna Help MSNBC in the long run. Maybe its by design for a tax write off?

And any of the "left-learmers" remaining are clearly at least Willing to do the bidding of corp...or else they'd be gone too...so what "important to us" issue driven information/value (like Net Neutrality/TPP/Labor etc) do these other personalities I'd watch have for me now? Sadly, None.

We lost Real News, Journalists, real reporting on real issues..decades ago..It's just a hellava Lot more obvious to a hellava lot more people-now.
We are no longer in as deep denial about that as we once were, imo.

Olbermann, Schultz, Bashir and Papantonio ought to team up and give some hell of their Own.

the ratings of Chris and Rachael. These are the only two shows I watch regularly and I want them to succeed.

I also heard a rumor that the network is talking to Keith again. Now that would cheer me up. However, I would never watch Chuck Todd, I always fast forward whenever he is reporting. I hope his show takes the ratings to a new low.

but I have to draw my personal line somewhere.

The network has already stuffed a partial sock in Rachel's mouth; she has "toned down" considerably.

Chris is becoming more and more challenging, so they will soon do an "intervention" to threaten him with his job.

I may be wrong, but unless Keith promises to have a lobotomy, he will never be rehired.

Chris has more fire in his gut and I bet he'll be next if he doesn't fall in line.

I have heard before about liberal-leaning talking heads being called on the carpet. You think Jon Stewart was the only one? Norman Goldman says the Dem party has ordered him numerous times to moderate his speech. He told them that would never happen.

Our choice here has been to cut the cord entirely, saving us big bucks.
Progressive news can be found easily online, via videos, print, and Democracy Now has transcripts.( prefer to read than to watch)

I doubt they will care about individual voices making noise. If suddenly 50,000 people said the same thing, it would be different.

Big Ed is my Cecil. I have drawn the line at how he was beheaded and skinned. I'm furious!

But I truly resent how this network is trying to manipulate me. I'm not stupid and I can see what they are doing, and it is insulting!!

So thanks for supporting my rant.

there plenty of money to made working the whole other half of the electorate that's opposite of FOX. on its face it's insulting that when it comes to media, Dems/progressives always have to beg on bended knee. we're a lucrative segment.

it flows into a whole other thing that's a constant annoyance for me...that progressive groups haven't invested at all in media. look at how much media is supported on the right. everything from RW websites to radio and a whole mess of network TV. it should terrify everyone that so much is being spent on extreme RW propaganda and ZERO is funded on the left.

people who do media/research/opinion on the left, do so completely without support.

Most everyone here complains how opinionated all the cable news channels are, well the new management at NBC News are attempting to change that. They are ditching the opinion programs and replacing them with "news programming". If all works out, you may actually have a cable channel with "real news" on it. Not this clap trap we see now where were bombarded by some no name or never was been spouting out on a subject that they actually know very little about and who's predictions are generally always wrong. Yup, I'll take "news" over video masterbation any day.
