Any Du folks from Clear Lake/Lake County Ca????? Need info on the fires.

Mr. Dixie's brother lives in Clear Lake Oaks, in a small valley up there, and we have not heard from him today.
He told us there were fires on all four sides, some not close yet, but that was yesterday. He said it looks like a nuclear blast hit, nothing but ash falling
and the sun is blotted out.

Breathing has got to be a problem, and he is no spring chicken.

It's really dry from the drought, there hasn't been fires there in years. Couple that with the terrain. They've not been able to get more than 30% containment in 4 days. It's terrible

I passed it on to Mr. Dixie since he knows the area so much better than I do.

Clear Lake Oaks is north and west of the fire. Winds appear to be blowing the smoke (and fire) to the south and east.

At least I hope it is. Dealing with Photobucket on an iPad is problematic at best.

Yeah, they get that touchy, as to who "owns it." And that means who releases info.

It explains why it was not updated at usual time.

Hope all is well with you and yours.

He lives on Indian Hill Road off highway 221, between Wolf Creek and long Valley Creek, SW some miles from the Indian Valley Resevoir.
Waaaay out in the boonies, I know that much.

evacuation can be harder, and people in the back country, at least locally... just refuse to leave.

titled "Why we all need to learn the word Anthropogenic" on what the Paradise fire burning in Olympic National Park means. The CA fires are so terrible but fire in our only rainforest seems almost apocalyptic. What have we done to our beautiful blue home?

I was a little kid when my parents had to drive us out of the fire area back then.
It was HUGE and made history.

This afternoon around 2, I could see the smoke that rose to about 20,000 feet. The news says the fire is about 18,000 acres (three hours ago) from 8k this a.m.
