Officer Ray Tensing's body camera captured the moment he shot and killed 43-year-old Samuel DuBose during a traffic stop. Video of that incident was released on Wednesday.
Tensing was indicted on murder charges for shooting DuBose, with a prosecutor claiming Tensing "purposely killed him" and "should never have been a police officer."
Tensing claimed he was dragged by DuBose's car and forced to shoot, but the video from the body camera clearly shows Tensing firing while DuBose sat in his motionless vehicle, just after Tensing asked him to remove his seatbelt and DuBose started his engine.

(23,957 posts)i think there will have to be an initial stage where the police continue to do the same cruel shit but juries stop being quite as police-biased. after about 10-20 felony convictions in a month, cops will start noticing that they can no longer freely abuse the people they're supposed to protect and serve, and then police-caused violence will begin to diminish.
