Police officer indicted

Authorities in Cincinnati have indicted a university police officer for murder in the shooting death of an unarmed black man earlier this month.

Police body camera footage depicting the fatal shooting was released at a press conference on Wednesday, as the city braces for possible protests over the case.

Police officer indicted for murder in fatal shooting of Samuel Dubose

Cincinnati promises reform after Samuel Dubose's death but a family demands justice and answers

Officer Ray Tensing shot Dubose in head on 19 July causing outcry. Details scant as bodycam footage withheld, pending outcome of prosecutor’s investigation

Samuel Dubose, 43, was fatally shot in the head by white officer Ray Tensing of the University of Cincinnati police department on 19 July. The incident occurred during a routine traffic stop after Tensing had pulled Dubose over for having a missing front license plate. According to the police account Dubose refused to provide officer Tensing with his driver’s license, producing a bottle of alcohol instead and refusing to exit the vehicle.

Announcing the charges on Wednesday, Hamilton county prosecutor Joseph Deters described the shooting as “so senseless”.

convicted, so few ever have, but if it starts to happen on a regular basis, maybe it will curb the attitude that they can murder people and get away with it, as they have for so long.

That taking of a life is a serious thing, but these cops don't seem to think so. They NEED to have that fact embedded in their brains or they don't get to work for the people. Period.

Excuses were that we were awaiting the grand jury's decision. Now we have it.

graphic. The cop's movement at the time blurs the video. The audio is there.

I get the sense that the DA and Chief meant bad as in the cop's actions, attitude, and lies.

putting these killer cops in prison, if done enough, will stop this shit. The cops who are killing people unnecessarily should be treated as any other murderer.
