Judge Dismisses Zimmerman Lawsuit Against Roseanne Barr
A Florida judge on Tuesday dismissed a lawsuit filed by the parents of George Zimmerman against comedian Roseanne Barr for causing emotional harm and violating their privacy.
In the lawsuit, Gladys and Robert Zimmerman Sr. protested tweets published by Barr after the death of Trayvon Martin, including a retweet with the address for the Zimmermans' home in Lake Mary, Fla., according to the Orlando Sentinel.
The Zimmermans' lawyer, David Heil, argued that Barr tried to incite "vigilante justice" by encouraging people to travel to the Zimmermans' home, according to the Orlando Sentinel.
Yet Seminole Circuit Judge Melanie Chase tossed the case.
"This court finds there is no disputed issue of material fact and that the defendant, Roseanne Barr, is entitled to judgment as a matter of law," Chase wrote, according to the Orlando Sentinel.
