Trump's spokesman: "You can't rape your spouse".

The Daily Beast article on Ivana Trump:

The Daily Beast report goes through how years ago, Ivana Trump alleged that her husband raped her. A 1993 book on Trump‘s life said that Trump grabbed his wife, tore her clothes off, and assaulted her. Author Harry Hurt III wrote, “According to versions she repeats to some of her closest confidantes, ‘he raped me.'”

The response from Trump spokesman and special counsel Michael Cohen:

“I will make sure that you and I meet one day while we’re in the courthouse. And I will take you for every penny you still don’t have. And I wil “You’re talking about the front-runner for the GOP, presidential candidate, as well as private individual who never raped anybody. And, of course, understand that by the very definition, you can’t rape your spouse.”

“It is true,” Cohen added. “You cannot rape your spouse. And there’s very clear case law.” come after your Daily Beast and everybody else that you possibly know,” Cohen said. “So I’m warning you, tread very fucking lightly, because what I’m going to do to you is going to be fucking disgusting. You understand me?”

“You write a story that has Mr. Trump’s name in it, with the word rape, and I’m going to mess your life up… for as long as you’re on this frickin’ planet… you’re going to have judgements against you, so much money, you’ll never know how to get out from underneath it,” he added.

“You’re talking about the front-runner for the GOP, presidential candidate, as well as private individual who never raped anybody. And, of course, understand that by the very definition, you can’t rape your spouse.”

“It is true,” Cohen added. “You cannot rape your spouse. And there’s very clear case law.”

How long has it been since spousal rape was not considered a crime? States started identifying it as a crime in the 1970s and all states made it a crime by 1993. What kind of lawyer would not know that?

come out in favor of forced child labor, the best way to get a good work ethic is to have it beaten into you, and solvent 9 as a profitable enterprise.

...hasn't opened a law book since 1970.

But he looks like he was born around 1970, and so that can't be it.

He puts Reagan's Teflon to shame. I, for one, thought for sure that this would come back to bite him in the ass. Nope.

Everything that comes out of that assclown's mouth is like red meat to the masses. They love it, they lick it up with a silver spoon, and scream for more. And Trump, the showman that he is, will most certainly give it to them.

What's next? Approving child abuse? Hey, if spousal rape is okay...Yeah, Don! Preach it!

Every time he gets any kind of criticism, he blows up -- name-calls, flings insults, files lawsuits, etc. In short, he has the equivalent of a 5-year-old's temper tantrum.

He shows on a daily basis that he's not capable to lead.

I was under the impression that it was unethical for a lawyer to threaten in this way. Could he be disbarred or sanctioned?

Even if not technically unethical, it ain't right his alleged lawyer to mirror his boss's nasty big mouth.

Rape is forced or coerced unwanted sex. Doesn't matter if you are married, in a relationship, or not. It's absolutely revolting to believe that someone is your property once you are married and you can do as you please with them. Utter bullshit. No one surrenders their rights when they get married. Troglodyte thinking at its worst.
