Ted Cruz cancels on Jon Stewart's 7/27 Daily Show

I'm pretty disappointed in the Cuban-American senator from Canada. After getting punished by GOP colleagues in the Senate this weekend, Teddy could have taken his punishment like a real 'Merican, but I guess his handlers were afraid he might do the Homer Simpson impression again.

Why Isn't Ted Cruz On 'The Daily Show' As Scheduled? It's A Huge Blow To Our Monday Night Entertainment
by Celia Darrough, Bustle.com, 7/27/2015

I’ve got to say, I was so excited for Monday’s The Daily Show, but now I’m feeling severely let down. One of the (many) controversial Republican presidential candidates was slated to appear with Jon Stewart. But now, according to a Daily Show press contact who refused to identify himself, Ted Cruz will no longer appear on the show on Monday night. Well color me devastated, because I was really looking forward to that. Why, Cruz, why? Why aren’t you doing what you promised?

Officially Alberta Teddy cancelled because of "official Senate business", but notice the timing of the update--just minutes after his Sunday floor humiliation. What a bent tool...

Getting traction in media:

Ted Cruz backs out of scheduled 'Daily Show' appearance by Verne Gay, Newsday, 9/28/2015

As Jon Stewart winds down a sixteen-year run at 'The Daily Show,' his frequent targets -- a long list of 'em -- have just eight more days for payback, which may explain why Texas senator and presidential hopeful Ted Cruz backed out of an appearance on the program Monday night.

Reasons for the cancellation are unknown (Historian David McCullough appeared in his place). No explanation was given while email queries to both the senator's office and Comedy Central were unanswered -- or just ignored.

Cancellations on "TDS" -- or any late night program -- are hardly unprecedented and do indeed happen although not frequently. What makes this so unusual is twofold:

Foremost, Cruz on "The Daily Show" is an incongruouis match -- the incongruity of which needs no explanation.

Second, we are now in the final roundup for Stewart. whose legendary run ends next Thursday, Aug. 6. (No one canceled on David Letterman in the waning moments of his historic final lap...)

We can now start calling him Wimpy Cruz.
