I just want to thank Skinner for all the work he does behind the scene. Without Skinner there would be no DU. Here's to you Skinner thank you.
edited to add: A great big thank you to EarlG and Elad too for all they do.

(17,182 posts)Of course, now what has to happen is for all three to post in this thread and say "Thank you all for your kind wishes, but we've decided we've had it with this place and we're leaving."
Just kidding, of course. (If stores can hold "Christmas in July" sales, why can't there be an April Fool's Day in August?)

(4,253 posts)It is my main news and info site. I was educated in the US but am Canadian. I find DU has a diverse progressive view that I believe in. Thanks for the news, politics, humour and science. I been on a long time and have learned so much.
Thanks Shinner, Earl G and Elad and all the rest of DUrs.
Indeed!

(36,437 posts)It's instructive that a lot of people complaining about "hurt feelings" are ALSO stating that this site is now "horrible" or something. Apparently Skinner's feelings don't count.
Skinner's doing a fine job, as are EarlG and Elad.
Keep up the great work, fellas!

(13,870 posts)Although many of us may have passionate, and at times difficult disagreements between ourselves here on DU it's great having a forum where we can have those disagreements. Without DU there would be a whole lot of silence.

(84,711 posts)It is the best Community Site on the Internet for Dems of ALL STRIPES....although it often gets "out of balance" during Primaries.
I think the DU LEFT is very sad that DU Admins decided to support Hillary, right out of the "starting gate" when they had to know that so many of their Contributors to the Site had other ideas and hoped for an Open Dem Primary.
That was a disappointment and has cause clashes here where some feel it was TOO SOON.
Anyway...I think that all of us posting here (even the ones who get hides who've been here for years) will always remember "Democratic Underground" as a Special Site and Community.
It's when the "Imbalance Occurs" that hostility breaks out....and there's been a bit of that because of "DU's" early Coronation of Hillary leaving the rest of us who have contributed to the growth of this site for years with news articles, enthusiasm, activism and money throughout the years.
This has caused hard feelings.
But.... for DU...for which many of us wouldn't have had a sanctuary and been exposed to "Non-Orwellian" Corporate MSM NEWS...Learned to used the Internet with Help from those Here who were so generous with their time to walk us Older DU'ers through the Internet World from the Traditional Publishing World.
DU has been MORE THAN POLITICS for so many of us. The many Incredibly Helpful Bonding Groups focusing on Photography, Self Help, Finance Info, Food, Consumer, Environment, Organic Gardening, Movies, Media, Computer Help (which has saved my butt so many times) and so many other DU'ers Interests Created a COMMUNITY!
We've been through so much here TOGETHER...the FIGHTS...the PRIMARIES...the BUSH YEARS...."9/11"....Endless WARS...and the Rest.
For THAT....SKINNER, EARL G, ELAD deserve a HUGE THANKS.
That they GOT a bunch of LEFTY DEMS who aren't what was envisioned might be a disappointment to THEM...but, sometime when they are Old and Grey..and their Kids are Grown.....they might remember the "DU DAYS" as a very worthwhile time of their life....where "unintended consequences" worked out and made a difference for GOOD in the World.
Peace! (I wish I could have this in more detail with the "History" many of us have...and better..but, just wanted Admins to know) Now...if you would just answer my "ATA" Question....about a certain DU'er Banned.. posted a few months back... But....Nevermind.

(63,645 posts)All three admins really appreciated reading all the kind messages in this thread.
I know this place can be pretty frustrating sometimes, especially during primary season. It is frustrating for me too. Gestures of kindness like this really make a big difference, and remind me why I love this place so much. The vast majority of people here are genuinely decent human beings who mean well and want to be a part of a community. You are what I love about DU.
