"There are numerous plaques, ribbons and certificates in my home that my 17-year-old son won as an athlete at local Special Olympics games. Of all the times I’ve watched with pride as he held up a ribbon with a smile or congratulated a friend just for competing never once did the world of politics even remotely enter my mind. The Special Olympics is about extraordinary people accomplishing extraordinary things. There is no place for politics in such a thing.
Unfortunately for today’s conservative, not even something as benign as the Special Olympics World Games in Los Angeles can keep them from spreading their unreasonable and unfounded hatred for the First Lady. When the US Special Olympics announced that Mrs. Obama would give a speech to open the games, they came out of the woodwork, seething with the kind of hate you would never expect from someone with as much Jesus on their profile as they have. When they posted a picture of her opening the games on Saturday, their hatred turned to fury, and their true colors came through..."
