I have no idea what they could be thinking. Remaking the most racist film in history.

I'm assuming someone decided to use the name to start some buzz about the film...looks like it's working.

Entirety different story with no credit for the author of The Clansman, the source novel.

BTW, there also was a film called Birth of a Nation in 1983 but that was a British TV movie that had nothing at all to do with American race relations.

probably using the original title as an ironic element, to strike at the original racist concept.

Could still be a crappy film, but probably worth given them some room to play with the concept. Could be too, it's only a working title and could be changed before its released.
