Group hoping to counter interstate Confederate flag lacks funds

But a group of three friends from Tampa, Bradenton and Sarasota had an idea: raise an even bigger flag right next to the 60-by-30 foot behemoth with a direct, universally understood message of peace.
The group opened a Kickstarter account June 25 seeking $65,000 to buy land near the rebel flag and install a large flag pole with their unity emblem: a drawing of a hand making a peace sign, colored with blue and white stars and red and white stripes with the inscription Stand Against Racism.
The Kickstarter campaign, though, raised only $4,380 from 65 backers by its stated July 25 deadline. The fundraising may have stalled for now, but Aaron McRae, spokesman for a group called Harmony Branch that is behind the unity flag, said they just need more time ...
